I don't bother. Just be dismissive and send an insulting meme. Or, if it tickles you, pretend you not only believe it, but offer even CRAZIER crap.

If they say Comey is a deep stater, you tell them "It's far worse than that. He was the one who trained John Hinckley Jr., and also had a close relationship with Epstein. It's true, you can Google it."

They don't want to know the truth. Even when it's presented to them right in front of their face. It's more fun to play along with the lies. And just look at all the people who gather to dress up and play along together. They're enjoying life and having a heck of a lot more fun than anybody else in the world right now. Ignorance truly is bliss.

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, and all that...may their time on this earth be as short as their sightedness.

urethra_franklin: alienated: fsbilly: I am convinced the American Revolution was a mistake.

Sometimes I have thought that as well. And then I remember Brexit.

Yes, but, if Britain still had "The Colonies" would the economic, racial, social, etc., conditions jave gotten to the same boiling point where a well-timed disruption campaign from Russia could've brought the UK to a grinding halt 250 years later?

Who knows. Hell, we might be French or Spanish by now. Or, maybe Native folks could've worked it so as to leech population away from Europe. There are near infinite possibilities.

worst case scenario: British Empire fully intact, except Trump is now Prime Minister of it,

Congrats. Now we're only the 2nd worst timeline.

Butt...D2S could be removed by a vote of No Confidence by a majority of the two houses of Parliament.

Bigly better....

schecter: alienated: hat is a giant puzzle box. Inside a maze, inside an Escher picture.
I am a fan of alternate history, but that is so many pieces set in play.
I mean, I can do so many small calculations that work towards an end goal / sum, but. wow.
I am not a supercomputer who would need about 3 weeks of spare time to produce even half an answer.
I will say that Britain at the very least, abolished slavery before America.

You have stumped me, and I cannot answer that.

Janeway: Time travel. Since my first day on the job as a Starfleet captain I swore I'd never let myself get caught in one of these godforsaken paradoxes - the future is the past, the past is the future, it all gives me a headache.

I rarely post this, but, well, it seems fitting

They're convinced that fact-checkers call their stories wrong and not liberal stories because the fact-checkers are biased, and not because their stories are wrong. I just... there's nothing you can do for these people without spending hours on each and every one.

LurkerSupreme: Didn't watch the video, but I'm pretty sure their response was probably something along the lines of "FAKE NEWS, MAGA MAGA, HAHA WE SO OWNED YOU LIBZ!"

I'm not sure there's any reaching them anymore. They've made 'truthiness' into a way of life.

No, there wasn't any of that. There was some the fake news feels real and it's being attacked by the real liars.

There was also why should we listen to people who are mean to us and tell us we're wrong when we have these other Trumpers that like us. There are lot of Trumpers that weren't good students or popular in school, internalized a sense of not being accepted and now embrace Trumpism because it embraces them.

I don't feel sorry for them though because they also perceive being fact checked as meanness. Mr. Rogers could calmly explain why they fell for a doctored video and they'd think he was being mean.

NephilimNexus: austerity101: Also, the government has a very significant interest in not letting fascist propaganda and hate speech spread, and so those forms of speech, like in most of the first world, should absolutely be severely curtailed.  Popper knew about this nearly 90 years ago.  We have to restrict hate speech and propaganda.  We have to.

And where do you draw the line at what qualifies?  Because the real issue isn't censoring the fascists - the issue is the people who will start labeling everything they don't like as fascism to get it censored.  And keep in mind that we already live in a world where major government and corporate policies get dictated by Twitter/Tublr trolls who already label everything and everyone they disagree with about literally anything as racist/Nazi/___-phobia.  Do you really want to give those twats even more power?

Seems like something that might be helped by clear lines and consequences, instead of frozen peaches.

To quote John Oliver, somewhere.

You realize that most other civilized countries have limitations on hate speech, right?  And that they haven't turned into totalitarian hellscapes?  Let's not pretend that we have to reinvent the wheel, here.  The work has largely been done.

Oh, you're an edgy centrist?  Piss off.
