Stop the car!
I'm getting out, I can't take it
Hey, look out, there's somebody coming,
And there's nothing you can do about it...

I'm actually surprised.  Usually NK would have just billed SK for the bullets and fuel.

Somebody obviously trained him in 'the art of the deal'

The Irresponsible Captain: Hunh, he is alive.

Mr Kim called it a "disgraceful affair" and said he felt "very sorry" for "disappointing" Mr Moon and the South Korean people, the Blue House said.

Doubtful. That was sent via letter only, and sounds like something a staffer who didn't know Kim would write...

the North is thought to have a "shoot-to-kill" policy in place

Thought to have? I think that's been confirmed.

Thats an imposter! There is no way the real Kim would say that.

Only after the Best Koreans burned the body did they discover the guy had been carrying a $100,000,000 cheque made out to Kim...

Translated from Korean:

"I'm sorry! Nobody ever tries to break IN! I panicked!"

That may lend credence to claim that Kim is dead and his sister is running the show. She might be a little more sensible than him

As for how state apologies go, it sounded actually remorseful.

I can't stand Trump but maybe visiting Kim made them realize they can only project so much crazy in the face of crazy. Validate him some, give some time to cool off and transition back into the world.

I was gonna say like "no shiat? Haven't they been shooting people for decades?".
Between the shootings and kidnappings and other shenanigans, Who the hell thinks it's a good idea to approach the DMZ?!  I'm not buying that story so easy.

I think it's a big deal that great leader has apologized for it. They normally take a stance of being faultless in such things.
I wonder if the guards will be held responsible or if it's just lip service. Maybe that's expecting too much.

With this level of discourse over improper shootings NK is taking the high road compared to domestic American police forces.

For what it is worth there are a couple of things this article got wrong.

1. The letter of apology was not from Kim but from the powerful political propaganda arm in North Korea that tries to influence South Korea.

2.  The South Korean people are very pissed off yes, but much of that is directed at President Moon for not addressing the issue for over 33 hours after he was briefed.
