Pats need to sign him in a few years just to start the game against the Jags so he can complete the AFC East sweep.

To be fair. most NFL players who have played as long as he has have beaten the Jaguars multiple times.

I don't know how to throw a football.

I like my chances of beating the Jags.

I beat you as a Texan, I beat you as a Jet.
I'll beat you squirrely Jaguars, you wanna make a bet?
I beat you as a Bengal and I beat you as a Bill
I'm gonna beat you again tonight-- oh you know I will!
I beat you as a Titan, and now I've done it for the Dolphins,
Thanks, you crazy Jags, thanks for all the fish wins.

He's managed to do it while playing for 6 of the 8 teams he has played for (yes, he has been a QB for 1/4th of the entire NFL)

Saw this cool stat earlier, but they specified QB. Has any other position player not a QB ever beaten the same team on 6 other teams? I tried to look it up, but really don't know how...

One of the most underrated over rated players ever

Not just played, he has started multiple games for 1/4 of NFL teams.

It's weird. I couldn't stand him when he was on the Texans. That 2014 Texans team had JJ Watt at his peak & they squandered it.

But last night, I found myself rooting for Fitzpatrick. He genuinely seems like a good guy & appreciative of the opportunities given to him.

Quarterback: Inside the Most Important Position in the National Football League

Really neat book by John Feinstein that Ryan Fitzpatrick is a fair part of.

Fricking Fitzpatrick...   He's not good, until he's great, and beats your team, then he reverts back into his standard form.  It's super frustrating to lose to this guy.  He's 3-10 against my Pats, which is three wins too many considering the teams he was on.

has anyone mentioned he went to Harvard?

Just like when the wife goes out of town ... that's a lot of beating.

Played for 15 years, on 8 teams, and only has 3 complete seasons. Never made the playoffs.

I know sportswriters don't need to be fashionistas, but how does one confuse pineapples, even the Lisa Frank kind, with paisley?

He's definitely someone whose career stats would be overlooked were it not for fantasy football.

I can't be the only one who had him as a last minute "Oh, shiat, THIS is their bye week?" last minute waiver wire savior.

brizzle365: I've got to give the dude credit, he has played just well enough to make a boatload of money in the NFL. Usually gets to sit on the bench for at least half of the season, just so he can be well rested for preseason and fool the coaches yet again.

He has enough FitzMagic tape out there that it's always enough to convince a GM/coach/OC to give him a shot and hope they can game plan him out if his mistakes. Then they realize FitzMagic usually comes from his style of play, so you can't eliminate the bad without also limiting the good.

Which is what I also find funny about Chan Gailey joining Miami, because he has to know by now Fitz is basically a lost cause.

Chan and Fitz have been following each other around for awhile. I think he's been his coordinator on 3 different teams.

He's also 56-85-1 as a starter & never had a winning record with any team he ever started for.

The closest he got was 6-6 as a Texan & that was when JJ Watt basically dragged them to a 9-7 record while playing defense & TE.

He isn't an awful quarterback. He is a mediocre quarterback who puts up brief periods of being quite good.

If you don't have a serviceable quarterback on your roster there are certainly worse QBs you could stick in for some time.

To be fair, Bill O'Brien coached that team.

He's good enough (and not a problem) and has proven his ability enough that he keeps getting new jobs and he can win games, but he has enough downsides that his teams always think they can still do better.

I was ready to toss this out as coincidence but he beat them with Jets?!!! I guess somebody had to win that day. It must have been a battle to the bottom.

He's also 3rd in the 'total jakes' for his career. To qualify that means he had at least one turnover in 78 games out of 159 played.

He is currently in a 2 way tie with Jameis Winston for most 1st place Jakes since 2008 - with 15.
He is one of 4 with a jake record of 116.67.

I haven't read a Feinstein book in a while. They're usually worth the time.
