It's almost like there is a national lack of leadership resulting in lay-people making it up as they go along.

/How could that happen?!?

"If you have a drink and are at your own table, you have to keep your mask on," she remembers being told. "You take it off to drink, then put your mask back on, then take it off to drink."

Strip, sip, strip, sip."

Strip, sip. Sounds like a night at the Foxy Lady in Providence.

I read the first quotee's name as Martha Stewart, not Mysty, and had trouble picturing anyone telling Martha what to do, pandemic or no.

Also, maybe the elbow thing is because people are doing stupid greetings like touching elbows instead of shaking, or punching elevator buttons and such with elbow instead of hand? I dunno. I'm not traveling during all this.

I actually bow or curtsy. I use the Japanese rules the deeper the bow the more important the person. The curtsy is more for when I'm in a too short of a skirt but the bow has been my go to hand shake replacement.

The most logical choice. The future is where we'll be spending the rest of our lives.

Yeah it's a big no all the patients who want to bump elbows instead of shake hands. IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE

Very few people can reach their face with their elbows. Also elbows are more likely to be clothed which eliminates skin to skin contact. Yes, shaking hands and bumping elbows aren't necessary, however cutting that ritual freaks some people out so they just reduce the chance of spread instead.

/I open unlatched doors with my elbows.

Pretty easy to touch your elbow with your other hand, it's a pretty common gesture/posture. And then the hand touches whatever. I guess it's safe(r) but why bother?
