Wow-wee.  My sweet mother in law takes Revlimid, (for Multiple myeloma) which costs an eye popping $17,000 A MONTH, (it's one pill per day for 21 days and 7 days without a pill and start all over again)!  That's over $800 A PILL!

In fact only one Medicare Supplement company to do business in this state covers part of it, which adds up to about $400 a month.  A private foundation helps with the rest.  I'm sure my MIL will truly appreciate Trump, (if this isn't one of his over 20,000 lies), that Trump is ponying up slightly less than the cost of 1/4rd of ONE PILL!

protecting people with preexisting conditions and look for a way to prevent surprise medical bills

Coronavirus is one hell of a surprise medical bill.

You sure that's not birth control? That sounds like birth control.

I thought we were getting a whole new health plan for EVERYONE in the first 30 days of his presidency.  It was going to be much cheaper and better than Obamacare.  It's almost as if he was full of shiat.

Yo, dawg, I herd you liked coverage of preexisting conditions...

2020-09-25 8:22:21 AM
So we are giving up on laws? President Twitter will just write decrees?

2020-09-25 8:23:15 AM
I personally, am looking forward to our new Trump branded healthcare.

Just look at how well everything else he's made has turned out!

2020-09-25 8:24:06 AM
And how's he paying for these cards? I'm not good at math, but $200 x 33 million people sounds like a lot of money. I thought Congress appropriated money, not him. Or is he just stealing it from somewhere else, like he did to build his wall (that's still not built).

We can deem it ShiatCare.

Wait till he gets sued and then bounced out court because the executive branch does not write the laws.

If Obama has made the same executive order, the Republicans would have challenged it in court the next day.

That's a lie. Like they would have waited that long.

Yeah, but then THEY look like the meanieheads. The GOP gets what they want, Trump gets what he wants, Americans get f*cked.

And if they let him get away with it, Donnie basically gets to be dictator.

2020-09-25 8:28:41 AM
Going to be honest - I actually like the bit about ending "surprise medical billing" - it's complete bullshiat that someone can get billed with an "out of network" doctor at an in-network hospital.  I don't see how this gets enforced though - it's an inherent problem with the "health insurance is the only practical means to get healthcare" system we have now.

You know what would actually fix that? A national single-payer healthcare program.

2020-09-25 8:29:52 AM
So if this is what he and republicans actually support, then why didn't they do any of this when they controlled both the house and Senate for two years?

2020-09-25 8:34:28 AM
Will it cover insulin, or do I have to keep sending US dollars to other countries for it?

Obviously the Democrats were blocking everything good then, just like they are now.

/Yes, that's sarcasm

Remember Dims, the Affordable Care Act became unconstitutional after Congress eliminated the law's individual mandate, a tax people paid if they did not purchase insurance or qualify for an exception.

There is a secret health plan. And it is awesome. But for reasons that are too complicated to go into, no one can see it until Obamacare is gone though. So we would have had it already, if those republican traitors in the senate had voted to eliminate Obamacare. As long as Obamacare is around, the awesome plan won't show itself.

Technically the first statement was correct: this is the first-ever executive order to address pre-existing conditions.

What Obama signed was an actual bill, passed by both houses of the legislature, and a viable and enforceable law.

This.  Any senior that's in the "donut hole" of Part D will take a look at that $200 and go "Whoop-de-farkin-do!  I can buy maybe a WHOLE PILL with this!"

It would make a good, if exploitative ad, to have testimonials of children holding the card sent to their parents who died from covid.

I'm just surprised they haven't bothered to call them something else so that they could just hang that label on Obama.

"That dictator obama issued executive orders, but we issue American sparkly-bald-eagle-destroying-a-book freedom orders. Totes different."

So Trump had a deal that the pharmaceutical industry would cover all co-pays for Medicare recipients. It would have been a massive win saving elderly Americans thousands of dollars a year. Then he demanded that the industry send out "Trump cards" reimbursing seniors $100 for their co-pays spent earlier in the year before the election and the industry balked, ending the deal.

Now they get $200 cards, but they only apply to future prescriptions, but Trump is guaranteeing they will arrive before the election (while some in the industry are saying that time frame is a little too tight to be reasonable.) actually giving seniors prescription relief going forward is gone from the deal: one time payout and then seniors are on their own.

Make no mistake, whatever animatronic GOP cultists they confirm to the Supreme Court, we be sure that the ACA is going to vanish after they hear Trump's court case on Nov. 10. This breathless article about a tiny bandaid they are offering in exchange for taking away healthcare from millions of Americans is not journalism.

I have several friends with MM, raised $5K for the MMRF when I ran up the Empire State Building, and contribute to their fundraising campaigns on a regular basis. I'll make another contribution in honor of your MIL. (I know this sounds like a humblebrag, but the MMRF does a damn good job of raising money and awareness about Multiple Myeloma, making sure the money goes towards research and partnering with some top-notch organizations to work towards treatment and an eventual cure.)

Just re-did the math for the updated count; if he used them for his wall he has enough for 26 miles.

Trump's cunning plan is that we'll buy $200 worth of medical marijuana and forget to vote.

I'll put $200 on this card having Trump's face or signature on it. Maybe both.

Executive orders can not overrule existing law. They're mostly used to create actions that laws do not cover.

This EO is just reaffirming existing law. It is effectively useless. This is Trump once again claiming to do something that has either already been done or that he had nothing to do with.

Not having to deal with the all horseshiat nonsense that our current for-profit insurance companies foist upon us is but one of many hard-to-quantify benefits of single-payer systems. Our family is relatively healthy and even everyday dealings with the health industry can be maddening. I can't imagine people who have real health problems and the shiat they have to deal with.

I can't think of a single issue where Trump has followed the constitutional structure, negotiated with congress on legislation that he could sign which they in turn passed which he signed.  Everything is end-run EOs with him because he sucks at negotiating.

The Art of the Deal everybody.
