Former republican congressman, Mark Foley, was the chairman of the caucus for missing and exploited children. He introduced legislation to ban pictures of 'sexy kids' on the interwebs. It was defeated because, while banning nudity or sexual acts is more straightforward, 'sexiness' is subjective and the law was practically unenforceable. He was eventually forced to resign in disgrace for trying to fark underage high school boys interning in congress.

I've never seen a show have such excellent reviews on Rotten Tomatoes on both sides while being so reviled by just about everyone I see mention it. The only group that I've seen that actually likes it is a subset of Family Guy fans that like how raunchy it can be.

To be fair, he probably would be a good judge of what 'sexy kids' are.

I found it watchable, but haven't given a fark about Family Guy since like Season 2 (is it still on? I truly don't know).

It's definitely so much a product of its time that it was already sorta corny as soon as it came out, though.

I wouldn't re-sub to Netflix to watch more of it, certainly.

I mean, I thought the series romanticizing suicidal ideation and action in teens, and also marketed at teens, showed they were irresponsible pieces of shiat. So this isn't that surprising.

It is. But so is puberty and growing up.

It got people talking about Netflix for weeks, and yea maybe some people cancelled, but once the cancellers get their 5 minutes of "fame" by putting it out on social media they cancelled, they'll sign back up again.  Even if they didn't, it's not enough people to matter.

The movie should have never happened and Netflix should have thought better of adding it to their site, but it's a blip on the radar for them and it won't be long until people are onto the next outrage and forget.

Those who complain about it either have forgotten how they actually were as puberteens and are frightened their kids might be like this, or have perfect recall of how they actually were as puberteens and are terrified that they accidentally raised the kids to be like this.

I remember how craptacular being a kid could be, and try to help my nieces and nephews survive how stupid both adults and peers can be at such a contradictory time.

Trump is the leader of the party of wholesomeness and family values.

This is what simple minded republican christians actually believe.

It's not like he went to the RNC with five kids, born of three different women (having committed adultery on all three of them).

No, it's like that. It's exactly like that.

I stopped reading at "parent's group".  Parent's groups, without fail, are full of hypocritical busybodies trying to force their morals on everyone else so they don't have to put the effort into actually raising their kids.  Which you know they don't do because anyone actually raising their kid(s) doesn't have time for your typical parent's group bullshiat.

Considering the same "concerned parents" biatching about that movie are the same parents who made "Toddlers and Tiaras," "Honey Boo Boo," and "Dance Moms" into hit shows, I'm sure Netflix has put their concerns in the garbage where it belongs.

Parents groups get outraged over something in pop culture about every five years. When I was in High School, it was Larry Clark's "Kids," "Natural Born Killers," and Marilyn Manson.

The relevant scenes and imagery have been all over the internet for a few weeks now.
"It's a great movie aside from the softcore kiddie porn" means "it's not a great movie at all" to people not supporting actual pedos and the pedos themselves.

I don't think those images of Biden touching heads, arms and shoulders quite exonerates Trump from fondling his daughter the way you thought they would.

So my wife watched it to see what all the fuss is about.  I watched most of it and got filled in on what I missed by my wife.

So yeah, there's some scenes in it that are uncomfortable to watch.  But the ironic thing is that at least in my eyes, the whole point of the movie is that if you don't teach a kid she has value beyond sexuality, she will seek value via sexuality.  It's about not setting a good example for our girls and thus having our girls essentially learn their value to society via music videos and nothing else.

Like fallingcow, I watched Big Mouth and enjoyed it but I also haven't watched Family Guy in over a decade, probably longer.

Big Mouth can be cringey because of the subject matter it deals with, but it is honest in its portrayal of puberty. I found the first season okay (the coach and the hormone monsters were the standouts) but season two was better because it dove deeper into the female side of puberty, something I did not experience. Season three, however, was a directionless mess and I've lost interest in watching more.

He cited recent reports, including the news that US Marshals have rescued more than 70 children who were considered "at-risk" of abuse and human trafficking

... the president has personally ordered and overseen the construction of rape camps containing literally thousands of children who at his personal orders have been forcibly abducted from their parents by armed brownshirts.  This is a verified true thing reported by actual journalists, not whatever the NYP counts as, and often openly bragged about at Trump rallies (the camps, not the rapes as such), by Trump, in his own half-coherent words.  This is a situation which has persisted for almost the entirety of his presidency and continues, again, at his personal orders, to persist now.  There are also rape camps for adults where the female concentration camp detainees are being unwillingly surgically sterilized to enable all the rape, so... rape's kind of a theme with this guy.

Generally speaking if you intentionally bring up Trump in an article about something the bar for "outrage" is set waaaaaaaay higher than seventy kids who "might" have been "at risk" of unspecified "abuse".

The hypocrisy has me siding with Biden.  I'd rather live in a world where people express connection through touch than one where toxic masculinity stops adults from treating children with kindness.
