Nixon was pretty smart about football... TV was the future and Offensive Linemen, good ones, are worth their weight in gold.

Aside from that, I'm glad he's dead.

cameroncrazy1984: Oh man I forgot about that movie. That messed me up for about a week as a kid

The scene where Denker puts on the Nazi uniform and is ordered to march in place is one of the creepiest things on film; watching his enthusiasm build and the Sieg Heil gesture are chilling.

Seems silly for Trump to praise Nixon.  That's like cancer praising acne.

That's terrible cursive.

I recently re-read the King story, and wow is it way better than I remember. Creepy AF, especially the ending. Read it if you haven't.

Compared to Trump, Nixon was FDfreakinR.

OT, but one of my favorite All in the Family moments was when Archie Bunker puts on his finest suit before sitting down to write a "thank you" letter to President Nixon.

The way he reverentially holds the pen up before putting it to paper is comedy gold.

"The two had been spotted together at the 21 nightclub..."

What kind of hellish nightmare of evil did you commit to find yourself at a nightclub with Trump and Nixon?  Worst George and Yortuck Festrunk impersonators, ever.

I've not read it, but it's on my Goodreads to-read list. You just convinced me to pop it up the queue.

What motivated the correspondence between a young man seeking a bright future and an ex-president with a dark past? Nixon expert Luke Nichter, a professor at Texas A&M-Central Texas, says the two men "saw something similar in each other - that toughness, that guts, even being beaten up and coming back."

That scheming, that corruptness, that feeling that the law didn't apply to them, that they could do know wrong, that whining when they were found out and people pointed out their flaws and their crimes.

JFC, was Nixon actually able to read any of it?!

All the novellas in Different Seasons are excellent. Highly recommended, arguably King's best work.

Apt pupil? Since when is Donald Trump capable of learning anything? He has the vocabulary of a fourth grader.

Dear Mr Nixon,
I would like to someday make you look like all things considered, you really weren't that bad of a choice. I vow to make this my life's work, along with grifting.

Yours Truly,
Donald J Trump

The movie (and novella) was wierdly prescient on the whole MAGA/neo-nazi thing. This kid:
