(Onion AV Club)   You may want to sit down for this, but 'The Masked Singer' and 'DWTS' are faking their audience crowds. Stay strong, this too will pass   (news.avclub.com) divider line

I'm faking any perceived interest too.

Faking their audiences?  That's it.

I've taken a lot from you, 2020.  But this?

You've gone too far.  I challenge you to a duel!

You realize 2020 is going to use the Cerebral Bore from Turok64, right?

Old news is so exciting. Subby never heard of a laugh track? You don't think they do the same for applause, cheers, all other audience sound?

I like the Masked Singer, I don't care what anyone says.

You DO know they never expected it to be a hit, and they got stuck with these judges because they were the only ones who agreed to do the silly premised show in the first place!

Well these "Reality" shows like this were already faking the stories and drama involved in these competitions so that's not a surprise. Now if they could only fake filming and broadcasting...

Somebody tried to tell me the crowds at the Puppy Bowl are just painted standees, but I know that can't be true. The puppies would have to be in on it, but they have such innocent little faces!

Serenaded By A Furry would be a better title for The Masked Singer.

Not gonna lie, I do too. They coined the term guilty pleasure for a reason and I'm willing to have mine.

This is an exceptionally bad idea. Creating a "live" audience with special effects without disclosing that to the viewer is irresponsible.

It will confirm the biases and normalize the behavior of the kind of person that will go to an indoor Trump rally with no social distancing. We do not need to en courage the chucklefarks.

Many shows that have been pre-recorded in front a live audience (as opposed to live) with enough time to manipulate the sounds of the crowd's reaction, rearrange crowd footage and the show's moments to optimize and even re-match reactions to moments, you know they will juggle the footage as they please to make the show more interesting in playback than it ever would have been in the studio.

They have been doing this for decades!!!
Did it take AV Club this long to notice?
