(BBC-US)   Remember the colossal clusterfark that was "swine flu affair of 1976," when a US president decided to rush a vaccine to the entire American population based on ill-founded science and political imprudence? Good times, good times   ( divider line

If you listen to any politician when it comes to matters of your health, I have no sympathy for problems you end up having. Just because a broken clock is right twice a day, doesn't mean you should rely on that clock and hope for the best.

Wasn't this the big vaccine debacle where the medical companies threatened to stop making vaccines unless they were given immunity (HAH!) from lawsuits? That's when the government created the special vaccine court so that no one can sue vaccine companies?

I was old enough to be aware of the uproar but young enough to not pay much attention to it. My parents were shocked that the government would try force people to be injected with something so dangerous. That's the uproar I remember. My parents weren't anti-vaxxers, they just thought that whole swine flu thing was handled badly by the government and no one in my family took part in it.

In 1976 we didn't send most of the world home from work, and pay them off the public dole for half a year.

Vaccine now.
