Perhaps....she should have done something about that Trump character when she could have. Perhaps I should send a very concerned letter....

I have furrowed my brow, shook my head, and made four small tsk sounds with my mouth in a show of solidarity. I will also send two thoughts and a half prayer.

Such concern. So worry

You mean "put herself" in

Jump on the metaphorical mine for your POTUS who doesn't care about you, Collins. Then disappear into obscurity.

Will throwing stones at the little mounds all around her help?

2020-09-24 10:06:33 AM
Good.

2020-09-24 10:06:37 AM
Meh, they have the votes without her.  Now she can safely vote to not confirm and say "see, I break with Trump, re-elect me".

2020-09-24 10:07:44 AM
Fark you Susan.

At 67.5 percent, Collins votes with Trump less than any other GOP senator

I get the sense she votes against Trump every single chance she gets when it does not matter because it will pass anyways but votes with him when it's close.  So she's saying she's against filling RBG's spot because she and McConnell know a new justice gets confirmed without her.

I didn't get a 'hurumph' outta that woman!

What are we doing today, Susan?

The same thing we always do, first look concerned, and then vote in lockstep with the rest of the GOP hacks

2020-09-24 10:09:28 AM
Why do you guys keep bringing up her monumental failure during the impeachment trial?  She might have made a mistake and I'm sure she learned her lesson.

yeah it was discussed yesterday - they've reined in Mitt so they could let Collins keep face with her constituents

I'm done giving her any brain cycles debating this. She's going to tow the line in the end. That's all you need to know. Her "conflict" is nothing more than the appearance of conflict to show her center-left constituents that she might vote in their favor.

Fark you, Susie. Oh, and thanks for reminding me to give money to Sara Gideon.

And yes, I know it's "toe the line".

Is there really anyone still under the illusion that Collins has any ethics or that she cares about the US? This isn't a difficult situation for her.

I look forward to the boom.

"Two sides of the coin here: It's one that energizes the Democratic base ... but if you're someone like Susan Collins it could give you the opportunity to show you are someone who is not beholden by the party," the official said.

FFS. Charles was all over this a long time ago. Will Maine voters play Charlie Brown's part again?

I wonder... sure, she votes against trump "the most".  Does anyone have any stats on her voting record vs if things pass?

I'm curious to see when she voted opposite of the R's, but the bill went "her way"

Is it a big fat 0?  Or has she voted against party when it actually meant something

2020-09-24 10:22:24 AM
I giggled, Subs...

2020-09-24 10:23:19 AM
What's really depressing/enraging is that Collins is still considered somehow "moderate" when she -- like pretty much every other Republican farkhead -- literally holds herself to no principle except Party Over Country.

Can she though?
If she votes against Trump will she lose Trump supporters
Hell I can see Trump attacking her on Twitter if she votes no, even if he wins.

Sophie's second "choice".

Make the right choice the first time and this won't happen.

2020-09-24 10:28:51 AM
F*ck this biatch. I hope she continues to get shamed (for life) everywhere she goes for voting in rapist Kavanaugh and whatever handmaiden tale trump puts forth on Saturday.

TFA is BS. This is not "dammed if you do, dammed if you don't."

You said you wouldn't vote for a SC nominee leading up to the election, so don't vote for a SC nominee. You said you'd vote against if there was a vote before Nov 3, so vote against if there's a vote before Nov 3.

Do what you said you would do, and you won't be dammed.

Collins will vote one way in the Judiciary Committee and the other in the Senate - whichever combo gives her best cover with her constituents while still seating the nominee.

schnee: whichever combo gives her best cover with her constituents

I would really like to think that Mainers are smart enough to see through this bullshiat, but they've kept her in that seat for 23 farking years.

As goes Maine, so goes .... KA-BOOM!

Hand me the manual for the Holy Grenade of Antioch again. This time I want to try reading the instructions completely through three times before pulling the pin.

I bet you she's just going to call Trump and sell her vote for a position in his next term administration.

I'm so concerned, I'm typing this in a shaky voice.

I believe all a SC justice needs to be confirmed is a simple majority, just as long as a quorum (51) is reached. So she can abstain from voting all together, she (Barrett or whomever else) gets confirmed, and Collins has kept her promise, on a technical basis.

The funny thing is that there's not as much as a conflict by her voting Barrett as there was Kavanaugh. At least with Barrett, there's no major skeletons lurking in her closet - she's just a bog-standard right wing judge.

2020-09-24 10:56:29 AM
Nevertheless, her concern persisted.

2020-09-24 10:58:37 AM
It's of her own doing, so tough shait.

What does Seattle's baseball team have to do with this Senator's career?

It's almost as if when you vote purely along party lines you get stuck in this tunnel you can't escape from...

She just needs to be more decisive.  It's a common problem with them.

This actually a "gift" for her. She gets to vote against this symbolically while not doing a damned thing to change it. Hope the voters of Maine don't buy her bullshiat.
