I find it hard to believe that anyone who hasn't made up their mind about Trump could survive into adulthood. But then I'm almost constantly surprised by how many see him and think that's my guy.

I want to know who all these white people are who think "Yeah, this freakish-looking, obnoxious New York 'businessman' and TV star is exactly the guy I want to represent my interests and culture on the world stage"

They're all around me --- I live in AL -- but I have yet to have a personal conversation with any of them. The only ones who are forthcoming are happy about the stock market. The rest are buying all the Fox News conspiracy crap, from riots to Covid.

It's all sportsball with people like that.

They might not like the way their Yankees are run, but they're sure as f*ck not going to become Mets fans. Find the silver lining in their party, and dig the hole ever deeper.  Trump gives them plenty of fuel to be the horrible people they are - law and order, stonks, immigrants, abortion, taxes, and that's before you even get to conspiracy bullsh*t like QAnon.

If you claim to be undecided, I believe you are a Trump voter who is too embarrassed to admit it. Which should say something about your decision making skills.

What?  Nobody's on the fence about voting for Trump anymore?

This right here. They're only "undecided" because they haven't found an excuse they can repeat to themselves personally that they find palatable enough so they can continue to sleep at night.

The only others are so in a bubble that I don't think they own electronics and only come out of their treehouse once every 4 years to vote like some kind of Quasimodo type mythological being.

Well, if they're black and support Trump, Biden would tell you they are at least undecided about what race they are.

2020-09-23 5:19:58 PM
Trump could rape puppies on stage and they would still vote for him as long as he promises to keep black and brown people in their place.

2020-09-23 5:21:14 PM
Anyone undecided is either lying to themselves, lying to the surveyor, or is one of those farkwits who really believes that Biden and Trump aren't different enough that their vote doesn't matter (aka, a myopic asshole who is stupid enough to believe that letting democracy fail sooner will hasten a reformation towards a better more equitable system.  The fact that there are literally zero cases of this happening in recorded history doesn't deter this asshole).

seriously, fark all the undecided voters.  They probably spend 20 minutes in the grocery store trying to decide whether to get Ketchup or Catsup, they are not worth wasting time on them. or better yet they are undecided to get their 15 seconds of fame

a better time would be people who voted for Trump, but are voting for Biden now (or Hillary to Trump).  or those that choose not to vote  in 2016 and now are voting in 2020

What I see in my neck of the woods(west coast, where it mostly doesn't even matter except down ballot):

1) Nominal Republicans who don't like Trump's behavior but are single issue voters on some part of the Republican platform (people like Cindy McCain may help them make up their mind if they can accept giving up policy desires for competent leadership)
2) The young who want someone like Bernie and are undecided on getting off their ass (people like my 21 year old sister in law, who told me she'd rather not vote for either of them so she won't vote at all)

This is why we're seeing a continuous, neverending, nonstop drip of bad news for Trump.

Anyone who hasn't realized that Benedict Donald is Bad with a capital b by now is a smoothbrain incapable of forming long term memories, and must be continuously reminded of this basic fact.

Trump supporters are all around me here in Florida. Not all of them are poor and live in trailers, but the majority of them do. Many are good, hardworking people, who are hanging on by a thread, doing the jobs nobody else will do, and hoping for a bright future just like everyone else, consistently voting against their own self interest.

Using a baffling combination of carnival barker, reality TV boss, narcissism, and pure lies he's somehow become their boy! Many of them know he sucks, but fear their shiatty lives getting even worse, and the "other' so much that they put an orange demon in charge of America.

The Nazi party was never a majority in Germany, only 38%, think about that. Trump supporters don't see what's coming next, their own heads on the chopping block. Trump will gladly kill them all if it suits his fancy. Ivanka bathing in their blood, laughing about the disgusting fools who voted for her Daddy.

2020-09-23 5:29:59 PM
I don't think there are 'undecided' voters.

Those people really like Trump for their Single Issue (usually abortion, tax cuts, jesus in schools, or regulation). They know that Trump is really really really bad, but they also really only care about their Single Issue.

So they are on the fence, weighing how much damage Trump can do to the nation versus how much he can deliver on their Single Issue.

The New York Times the Daily podcast spoke to some this morning.  It was agonizing as almost all of them said something to the effect of "Trump is a maniac, but I'm worried that Joe Biden is old and I don't know if I want someone who makes mistakes making big decisions."

I haven't actively sought out proof of Joe Biden's mental acuity, but one time I saw him talking to an automotive line worker accusing him of trying to take away guns.  Biden responded with a straightforward, honest answer - "You're full of shiat."  And informed the accuser that he had guns and nobody was taking them away.

We know what 'cures' Trumpism. Same thing that cures Nazism in Germany and Imperialism in Japan.

Round-the-clock aerial bombardment.

I really don't want the rest of the world to have to cure us.

You know what would be helpful? A thread where we all insult the folks who will actually decide the election!

Nuh-uh! The candidates are spending millions of dollars to market themselves to people like us, who decided they would vote blue upwards of four years ago!

*shakes head* We took ourselves out of the equation when we made up our minds. Biden still has to run. Insulting the people he's trying to convince helps no one, or possibly Trump if you happen to make a remark to an actual undecided person and let them know you're a Dem.

We are the floor. Blue candidates will now bend over backwards doing whatever they can to raise the ceiling. As they should.

2020-09-23 5:37:47 PM
Goddammit npr. This is just asking for the RWNJ propaganda machine to come out in force saying they've been blue voters their whole lives, but now they're really on the fence because some bullshiat about hunter Biden or concern about Biden's health or mental state.

I'm encouraged by the fact that there is a group called "Republican Voters Against Trump," but I don't think there is a group called "Democrat Voters Against Biden."  Maybe there's hope for the world.  Otherwise, I'm screwed, because neither Canada nor the Bahamas will take me in.

Gosh, it's like a generation raised on media telling them torture is not only good, but necessary, they put children in cages and tear gas their own neighbours from moving cop cars. And then, they have to think hard about who to vote for.

You dense motherfarkers. Every one of you who ask "Did you serve?" needs to see what service has done to you. You did not serve an honourable government. This is what Guantanamo and pallets of money got you. It's come home, and now half of you think that's okay, probably because that half thought it was their job to "liberate" the Middle East this way. Of course that half would think it's the most efficient and reasonable way to live their lives at home. What did you think would happen? What did you think Dems were protesting in 2004?

A vote for John Kerry was a vote against Trump. Do you see that now?

2020-09-23 5:38:42 PM
The "undecided" seem to fall into three practical camps.

"I haven't decided if I'm going to vote because [logistical reasons]"
"I haven't decided if I'm going to vote because my vote doesn't really count in the big picture"
"I haven't decided if I'm going to vote because both sides are bad and I don't want to support either of them"

Of those groups, the closest to "I haven't decided who I'm going to vote for" seem to be in the last category.  I've seen plenty of "I really hate candidate A, but B has some issues I can't agree with" (More "I hate Trump, but Biden might be gropy|have dementia|once voted to appoint Clarence Thomas" than the other way around, which is obviously the result of effective message-manipulation from the Trump side.)

Genuine "I haven't decided who to vote for" undecideds are unicorns in any election, but this time they're unicorns made of solid unobtanium who are willing to have sex with you.

I don't know if we have the checks in place to stop him any longer. I have been having nightmares about Trump starting nuclear war recently. His pathology will want to burn it all down when he loses. He will lose in a fair fight, but this election must be a TKO to the entire Republican party if we want to keep our democracy.
