No, they weren't afraid the crowd would cheer. They knew the crowd would cheer, and trump would eat that shiat up. And then footage of all that would have ended up on TV.

This was all about protecting idiot boy from being caught wallowing in his own awfulness.

Well, though...I didn't exactly cry when Scalia bit it, nor did a lot of Farkers. Of course the MAGATs would have cheered. But his handlers were right to assume he would have basked in it, which would have been disgusting.

And here I've been wasting emotions on all the pastors and Herman Cain who all died of Covid-19.

I may disagree with them but they were still my fellow Americans.

Perhaps I ought to reconsider developing empathy, a 10 year struggle, and regress to being a full blown psychopath.

Nonsense. You can't tell me a crowd at a Trump rally would do anything less than hold a moment of dignified silence in her honor.

I'm shocked Trump would hire aides with that much intelligence.

But it wouldn't have made a farking bit of difference as far as shaming or decency.

2020-09-23 3:19:15 PM
To be fair, if Kavanaugh died I would probably cheer. But it's because he's an attempted rapist and his appointment to the Supreme Court was a joke and a disgrace.

MAGAts cheer RBG's death because she's liberal. So, slight difference.

Are you saying the Jesus loving, MAGA-hat wearing Trump fans are hate-filled cult members?

Because, I am.

2020-09-23 3:20:57 PM
They're cheering now, it just so happens the rally is over.

2020-09-23 3:21:50 PM
I also like how they think this isn't going to happen later. When in fact it did, both by Trump degrading RBG in an interview, and the chants of 'Fill That Seat' in Pennsylvania.

Trump won't stop. The kind of racist morons that pack his rallies would love to hear him be as racist and awful as they are. I have an odd feeling it will get more brazen as he grows desperate for approval.

2020-09-23 3:21:51 PM
They boo'd a service member while in a war zone because they didn't like the question. They cheered at the idea of people dying without health insurance.

This isn't a new things.

And it could still happen

This was evident that night.  He was talking about the supreme court as if his chance to nominate a new justice hinged on the election.  Some of the troglodytes in the audience started screaming, "Ginsburg's dead!" and he didn't hear them.

His staffers must've been shiatting themselves in fear that he would hear them.

Not just any adblock-wall or paywall, a really good block-wall. Turning off adblock-plus for the site doesn't work, because it detects my pi-hole. I can momentarily pause the pi-hole service and get it to load, but that's annoying. Turning off javascript for the site doesn't seem to work either. I haven't seen one this effective since the WSJ, except this wall is more annoying because I hardly ever read anything from the Journal, while I stumble across links to Business Insider all the time.

No, there's more to it than that. RBG was a woman who not only dared to rise above her God-appointed station in life, she helped other women do so as well.

In the privacy of their own thoughts, everyone is overjoyed at the prospect of their side making a SCOTUS pick. The difference is in:

1) Having the capacity for empathy, so you are aware that others might observe your reaction and form an opinion about it.
2) Having the desire to be a decent human being.
3) Having the capacity to feel shame.

"He says what everyone is thinking!" is not a good thing.

As I said in a previous thread, the day after RBG's death was announced, I drove my mother up from Houston to Fort Worth. She was smiling the entire time texting back and forth with my equally Republican brother. Both were thrilled that Moscow Mitch stole Garland's seat and now feel zero sense of shame of the hypocrisy of filling RBG's seat less than two months before an election Trump is likely to lose. It took everything I had not to completely lay into her....but that would have accomplished nothing but further increasing her (and my brother's) feelings of schadenfreude. So the entire time I had to act as if nothing was bothering me.

It was a loooooooong drive.

But, then, he's responsible for 200,000 deaths in America, with more to come.
