In Kentucky? Probably wins by more now.

He's won.

Yeah, this state is a bit of a wreck.  The Turtle hasn't been in danger from a KY Dem for as long as I can remember.

Police report and one anonymous witness claim that the cops knocked, and fired in self defense.

Other witnesses claim otherwise.

Police body cam supporting their version of events is curiously non-existent.

Good luck finding one for sale. I went to Bass Pro over the weekend just to , maybe, pick up some ammo... they had almost no guns of any kind in stock and aside from 30-06 and 12gauge they had no ammo to speak of either.

and the only stuff available on CheaperThanDirt is a bunch of  never heard of them brands, and even that is in short supply ammo wise.

S'why I picked the 30-06. Now if there were just some earthly way for one person to cover all 3 exits...

/didn't quite think that one thru

Well, they aren't upset about the process of warrant approval, which is the task force's focus, they are upset about the existence of no-knock warrants.

Asking why manslaughter or other homicide charges were not considered

2020-09-23 2:23:26 PM
So what I'm hearing is... police have no responsibility to meaningfully announce themselves before breaking into your house guns blazing and you have no right to defend yourself.

We said we knocked, you can't prove we didn't, so killing sleeping people in their own homes is not a crime.

I understand, but the reason people are upset is Breonna Taylor was shot and killed. If a no knock warrant were executed without the murdering part, this would be a different case. No knock warrants are bad. Killing innocent people is worse. Using a no knock warrant as the method to deliver murder should be unconscionable.

I'm sorry, but it needs to be law that all cops must have body cams that are turned on when on duty.  No exceptions.  If they aren't on and something happens then they are fired and on their own legally as a start.

King Something: Asking how the boyfriend wasn't hit but Breonna Taylor was hit a bunch of times

Firing blind and wildly, basically.

Those apartments are obviously built out of the fairly modern materials since the 80s... and the walls are not stopping (or deflecting) a fast forty caliber round (or the slower forty-four/forty-five).  Those rounds (and the 10) just flat going through anything.  And whereever they are firing, those rounds are going through.

So, yes.  The sound bounced, they fired, and Taylor caught the majority of where they were firing.

2020-09-23 2:39:39 PM
Breonna Taylor would want you to stay peaceful, I assume, I didn't know her and she's dead now, but In her name let me say...

I used to live in apartments like that.
I encourage anyone to go into a room on the same floor as your front door (If you live in a split-level you're just screwed anyway.)
Have someone else yell from outside 10 random words and see if you can make out any of them.
Then try it while reading, then with a tv on, and/or with the bedroom door shut.

It doesn't matter what the cops announced. No way you'd have any idea who was kicking in the door.

Marbleisheavy: So Louisville just formally approved police to enter and shoot up residences unannounced with the only consequence being if they shoot *other* residences?

Absolutely not.

They have to present a shoddy case based upon false information to a judge first before they may do so.

2020-09-23 2:51:21 PM

jso2897: Look - maybe my logic is off - but in a country that has a second amendment and where people have the right to arm and protect themselves, I don't see how we can allow "no-knock" warrants to be served excepting with an understanding that those who choose to do so will do so at their own risk, not be indemnified against the consequences.
These guys broke into an innocent citizen's home, unannounced and with guns out - and people got shot.
That can't be on anybody but them. If it is, then your precious Second Amendment means nothing, and your right to bear arms can be cancelled by any trigger happy nimrod with a badge.
And if the authorities aren't willing to accept that level of responsibility, they need to stop issuing no knock warrants.

Oh, didn't you see? Some lawyer claims they knocked and announced themselves. I'm sure there's proof of that and it's not an obvious lie being lent the benefit of the doubt by a compromised court system.
