Retire now, save the lifetime of frustration of trying to replicate it.

Well done though.

That is the definition of peaking early. Let's hope they repeat, but I hear those are super rare. I wouldn't know...best I could ever muster is an eagle. Once. Otherwise it's 5+ for me.

my closest to a hole in one was on a par 4.

Pretty sure my closest to a hole-in-one was a 4.

Now I have to hate her. I've been playing for over 25 years and have never had an ace. I will take solace in the fact that I can hit a 7 iron WAY farther than 90 yards.

Good for her.  I got a hole-in-one once.  It was cool.

I was golfing years ago and waiting on the tee box for the group in front of me to tee off. I had talked to them a few holes earlier and it was their first round ever. One guy hits an ugly worm burner that rolls down the fairway, skips up to the green, and in to the farking hole. To date, it's the only hole in one I've ever seen in person.

Now she has nothing to look forward to, it's all downhill from here. That's why I have purposefully never gotten an ace in 45 years of golfing.

You could also probably take her pretty easily if you wish to feel better about yourself, don't close your options off before you're sure.

I've heard that about gambling as well. More serious than golf of course, but I can see how early success could be very dangerous.

Been playing 36 years and never had one.  My dad for about 60, never had one.  I've been witness to two of them. I play so infrequently my iron game is a dumpster fire so the odds of me ever getting one are...slim.

The only time I ever hit two good balls during golf is when I stepped on a rake.

Pros go their entire lives without one. I think the last time Tiger had one was 20 years ago. You are hitting a 1" ball into a 3" hole from 400 feet or more. Given all the variability from wind to green speed to ball spin, etc it's extremely unlikely.

Guaranteed there was some parent of another golf kid complaining to the course officials that she teed up incorrectly, or used an illegal club, or something goofy.  Opposing team, same team, doesn't matter, golf parents don't want anyone but their own child to compete for those sweet college scholarships.

... maybe it's just my in-laws who were horrible golf parents.  It was ten years ago, and they're still whining about that one tournament where poor Suzy was cheated out of a win, in an elaborate conspiracy.

/Suzy got the scholarship, and decided to major in sorority whore instead.

I've come within a foot of an ace twice.

First one, I hit it on the front of the green and the ball rolled up to six inches away. I go to mark it and my ball is sitting in a slight indentation. Aargh. I still wonder 20+ years later if I was cheated out of an ace.

Second one, I landed the ball a foot northwest of the hole and the ball spun back to six inches south of the hole. Later in the round, I chipped in for eagle from the fairway, so that made up a little for just missing the ace.

I've gotten 7 aces in a round of mini golf. One of these days I'll upload the picture of the scorecard.

my legit 2nd or 3rd outing, I hit the ball about a a foot, 18" from the hole.  my pals were like, "are you kidding me?  are you shiatting us, your 2nd or 3rd time playing, ever?"  (I of course two putted for a par).

and my greatest hole story....I live in Phoenix and usually only play in summertime, when the courses are really cheap and there's not many folks out - I play for cheap, put my earbuds in, there's  no one on the course, just just jam out and golf.

So. my cart had a GPS unit. longer par 3, like 180 or so.  I skullled the tee shot, moving the ball about 30 yards, barely reaching the fairway.  So i'm sitting about 150+ away, and line up my shot.  I forget what I hit, but the ball had a good line, good bounce, right on target, and I'm like, "oh shiat.....good bounce.....keep going....oh shiat...."  the ball disappears.  Holed out.  No one saw it.  I had the presence of mind, given the GPS, to get the precise distance.  without moving my feet, I dropped a tee where the ball was.  then I drove from the dropped tee to the green, did the GPS math, it was like 135 yards, then another eyeball test 15+ yards.  greatest hole of my life.

and no one saw. ha!

My daughter's ex boyfriend did that when we were visiting my brother in law in Arizona. Bastard.

My CSB: I teed off on a par 3 over water. The ball hot a rock on the far side and flew into the distance, so I re-teed. The second shot went in. F*ck.
