Well first off, you gotta owe a lot of money to someone. 200K is a good number. It's helpful if you didn't rape several people in high school and college, but it's not a deal breaker. It's good to know the law if you want to bend the law to fit the sadistic agenda of your handlers, but it's not a strict requirement. Being in a religious cult, definitely a bonus.

Trying to think if I left anything out...

How Senate Confirmation Works (GOP Edition):

1) Dem Senate, Dem White House
1a) Turn filibuster into weapon of mass obstruction and deny all nominees
1b) When Dems eliminate filibuster for judicial picks, use this as an excuse for eliminating the filibuster when you're in control
1c) Justify your actions on the grounds that America is a center-right nation that somehow can't manage to give the GOP a popular vote victory

2) GOP Senate, Dem White House
2a) Refuse to confirm any nominee on the grounds that the Founders intended the Senate Majority Leader, whom they never mentioned once in the Constitution, to reinterpret the Advice and Consent Clause as he sees fit
2b) Justify your actions by invoking a hypothetical scenario your Dem opponent once made but never implemented on the grounds that they wouldn't have brought it up if they hadn't intended to use it

3) GOP Senate, GOP White House
3a) Eliminate the filibuster on the grounds that Dems are obstructionists for using the same tactics you used against them in 1)
3b) Pick a name off the Federalist Society list.  It literally doesn't matter which one.  Accuse the Dems of being anti-catholic if they bring up abortion
3c) Justify your actions by claiming that Dems would have done what you did if they had had the chance even though they never actually did that when they had the chance

4) Dem Senate, GOP White House
4a) TBD

If one dies in an election year in February and the President is a Democrat, no new Supreme Court Justice for you, too close to election day.....9 months away.

If one dies in an election year in September and the President is a Republican, you may appoint a new Supreme Court Justice....because hypocrisy.

Subtonic: Alcoholism?

Yep, missed that. Strong vices are important. Gambling and alcoholism are good, because you need that kind of life experience to really go after the people whose poor decisions largely reflect your own, except that you destroy their lives while your kids go to Harvard.

They sort of skipped a few steps in there.

Like the part where the Democrat Senate decided to do away with the filibuster in reference to Federal court justices, which is what prompted the Republicans to return the favor for Supreme Court justices.

Then, they misrepresented the "Biden rule," which was that a Senate that is the opposing party of the President should withhold confirmation on a lame-duck President who's in the last year of his term. Note that Biden himself specifically said that a Senate of the same party should go on ahead and confirm.

Then they talk about the "average" time of 69 days it takes to confirm - while ignoring the fact that RBG was confirmed in just 42 days.

4a speculation) Recess appointment that wins muster through courts by using the judges pushed through and/or blocked using the previous 3 scenarios.

We have causation given for why the republicans removed the filibuster for SC appointments. Any thoughts as to what prompted the democratic senate to remove the filibuster in reference to federal court justices?

My gosh I'm just having such a poor memory this morning. Which justice did the "Biden Rule" prevent being seated? Or who was the nominee that didn't get seated? Just can't seem to remember.

Does average usually include every example of things that are not exactly the average? Like if I said the average penis length is 6 inches, would you consider it an omission that I didn't mention cirby's 4 inch penis? Were there ever any confirmations that went longer than 69 days? Or was Ginsburg just so spectacular that she was the only one not confirmed in exactly 69 days?

In 2012, Obama was utterly incompetent at dealing with judicial vacancies. In 2014, Obama was able to seat federal justices. By 2016, he was being blocked.  Specific examples include Atlanta, which has a notoriously constipated docket. In 2018, the GOP was ridiculing Obama for being so shyte with procedural obstruction. The first mandate Obama is a disappointment to anyone who wanted to see a less racist, less heteronormative, less sexist, federal judiciary. It hurts nothing to see that Obama/Biden waited too long to implement their judiciary policy. they clearly did not pay attention to the reality of the GOP's procedural farkery at the state level. Obama's second term makes Obama look like a saint, because the GOP went totally batshyte nuclear option every damn day under McConnell's leadership.

Hopefully, Biden has a chip on his shoulder now and wants to get even. Harris can do what Obama could not, if her experience is put to good use. We have to wait to see what her willpower is made of.
