If NYC is dying, it's from hunger from waiting for a table at Sunday brunch.

Does anything outside of the wealthy part count? The other ares are just the slaves quarters.

Those parts are "dying" because rent costs have fallen from "astronomical" down to "some of the highest in the country?"

90% of restaurants not making rent in NYC - leases can't be renegotiated. Businesses are dying.

Oh gosh, are the "Cities Dying" again?
They've died every ten years or so for my entire life, as a consequence of which they are now bigger than ever and inhabited by a higher percentage of Americans than ever.
Cue some twenty something to youngsplain to me how all reality is totally different now than it has ever been.

I think the difference, this time around only, is that people no longer need to live near their employer or face a horrendous commute. This year has shown that remote work can be a thing for a lot of people, and the need to go to the office has been greatly reduced. Whether this continues, or rebounds back to the way things were, remains to be seen. Some people like living in the city because they are close to a lot of activities in a small space, and some people like open space, without the noise, hustle and bustle.

The real death won't occur until full self driving cars become a reality. Luckily, despite what Elon says, that is no where close to happening.

Because it's definitely the twentysomethings saying that and not clickbait articles written by people of indeterminate age.

I will never forget how he promised us self-driving cars in 2018, then by the end of 2018, and we're still not there yet.
