And there it is, the Apocalyptic Omen of the Year for 2020. The Balance of Power is dead, democracy, freedoms, a free media, justice, truth and beauty are all dead.

Thank you Putin Colluders.

Eyesore? I keed. It's still a magnificent-looking rock(s). Very solid. Massive. And it doesn't look like it's going anywhere else in the near future.

/Call it Fallen Rock.

Woohoo!

Holliston represent!

You gotta live here to know that this is probably the biggest thing to happen in this town since George Washington rode through and didn't sleep here.

Also, we have a darn nice rail trail.

2020-09-23 6:39:12 AM
Honestly, it just sat there while George Washington helped rebel from his right country just to preserve slavery in the Americas, from what The New York Times tells us.  It was not antiracist and so deserved to be cancelled.

That rock was probably dropped there by a glacier over 10,000 years ago.
I bet it has been peed on a lot.

I guess that's impressive if it's the only rock formation like that within a 1,000 miles?  Also it appears to be located in the middle of a subdivision.  Has the HOA been informed?

Wouldn't work. Those smaller chunks of granite you see in the "after" pic probably broke off of the lower rock, causing it to become unbalanced. You can't put it back in it's original position any more. Granite has a way of flaking off big chunks like that (exfoliation).

Singleballtheory: "Local town legend" = Some shiat we made up

in Jeffersonville, Vermont, there was a gas station, Madonna Mobile. (Named for the mountain) Across from the one I worked at.
Next to that greasy, one bay place was a dumpster, and forever, next to the dumpster, was a wheel chair and three crutches, which leaned against the dumpster.
Every time they would empty the dumpster, they would move the crutches and empty it, and lean them back,
No one ever thought to put the crutches IN the dumpster, nor the wheelchair, so they were out there, all seasons.
Behind the dumpster was a swamp. A wetland. (this was before Valee came in and turned it into a huge Maplefield's convenience)  I was 37ish at the time but looked like I was in my 20s, and enjoying the lack of stress that came with running a convenience store in the middle of nowhere. Nothing like a mom and pop to be calm and secure. No noise, no real stress. I could look out the window and watch the wild life.
There were red wing black birds on marsh reeds and cattails, and such. Dragon flies. But it was a swamp.

Tourists would always ask where to go, places of interest. And i was always happy to provide directions for a nearby swimming hole, or eatery.

Or, maybe I would tell them about the miracle springs across the street.
Right over there.
Madonna Springs. They even named that filling station after it.
Yessiree. People come from all over, Infirmed, cripples, diseased.
They all take a drink from the healing spring and are cured.
See them crutches and that there wheel chair?
Cured. Let them behind.
I even tried it.
"you did?"
I don't look 70, do I?
"70?!"
Hey (kid in the back) HOW OLD AM I?

Kid in the back: "He's way older than he looks"

And the tourists would drive across the street to Ray Saloomey's store and get out, but not go in.
Just stand there and stare into the swamp.

Drove him nuts.

gotta love local legends
I ought to know.

I was one.

I know Ray Saloomey.   He used to run the Smuggler's Notch Primitive Biathlon.    I haven't been up there though since they moved it to the Lamoille Valley Fish and Game Club.

Checking Google Earth, looks like there's a way for me to get there in about 3 hours, which is about what it took to get to Smuggs.   Maybe I'll have to go this year.
