Disney and Disneyworld gets lots of Kudos for their sanitation procures.

If anything they're far more diligent and aware than say your local supermarket. Or delivery service.

Personally, no way I'm going there anytime soon. But I'd feel far more 'safe' at Disney than even Walmart or Publix.

These parks are going to be the touchstone of safety measures for Covid in the long term...because it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

A lot of the Technology and guidelines implemented by Disney should be common place. Even the "Drink Filling" stations at Star Wars Land are now being purchased for schools that are removing water fountains.

Okay..from last year. A waterbottle refilling station at Disney's StarWars land.

Touchless and fills the bottle.

Our local school district just pulled out all the "Water fountains" and placed them with these.
As low touch devices..and knowing 99 present of the kids have their own water bottles now and the district give them one in their welcome pack.

Those classic water fountains...they're out of there. 'high touch' things. It's waterbottles and no touch filling now.

Ahh...Bad Picture. The ones they replaced with do not have the drinking fountain option. Just BYOB bottles, or the little paper cups.

And they closed many of their Disney stores at the malls and obviously the movies aren't opening in the theaters and they kind of cocked up Star Wars (besides the Mandalorian, maybe). Marvel is kind of done. The live action cartoon movies are out of gas. They still have Pirates of the Caribbean....well they don't really. They need to re-open Miramax.

No...As far as I know.
But they're normalizing those thing. It's been in place for ages at disney parks.

Disney didn't invent 'touch screens' but I remember making reservation from video touch screens in EPCOT in 83.

Here's a bit that Disney did do. It' s a system a software suite with user interface...that was implimented in a reality far before 'cell phones' and 'apps' that people walk around with every day. Most of the basic interface dongles are in place including the touch screen.
However in EPCOT the touch screen on those devices where an array of led's so the finger intrupted the light beam to give a X/Y cord. Instead of a capacitance 'touch screen'.

They got a hard smack down...and rightfully so. For Farken outlandish prices for 'first run movies" Mulan. as 35 bucks for early access.
Nope...nope..nope.
There's nothing at all that or any studio can do to get me to pay 35 bucks for 'first view' streaming...and I'm looking at you black widow.. I can wait.

Well if you want to make profit out of a $200mill budget, you don't have a lot of options,

You know if the country had a logical and effective response to Covid-19 they might already be able to open at a lower capacity, safely. Too bad the orange shiatgibbon in charge f**ked that up.

If it were mei would not allow any amusement park to open until we have a Vaccine that is test safe and effective.

2020-09-23 2:38:27 AM
Corporations should be expected to be responsible with the money they have. Yes, the pandemic threw a wrench in literally everything simultaneously. But for one of the busiest theme parks to reopen right now would be amazingly irresponsible, given the climate of covid-19, which scientists say is going to get worse. I, for one, believe them.

It sucks that the wheels of capitalism ground to a halt. But tough shiat. A pandemic doesn't care about your profit margin, and it certainly doesn't care when you're tired of it. People aren't going to stop dying from this until there's a vaccine, because too many don't want to do the right things to stop it. Unless millions of people simultaneously change their tune overnight, fark your amusement park.

Yeah there is, it's a little trick along the lines of "not every movie needs a 9 figure budget."

This is what truly infuriates me.  The administration has ample warning that this thing was coming.  They could have acted decisively in the early days, which would have been painful and would have subjected them to criticism.  But the benefits would have been to contain the spread in the US, and we would likely all be enjoying a relatively normal life right now.

It didn't have to be this way.

Yeah it did have to. The little that the administration attempted to do early on, like travel restrictions, got met with massive pushback. Remember Nancy Pelosi telling people to go out and celebrate Chinese New Year? If a shutdown had been ordered at the national level do you think any blue (or even red for that matter) state would have just gone along? No, they wouldn't have, they'd have said, "You're not telling US what to do, feds" and promptly sued.

The fantasy people are spinning now about how we could have stopped this if we had acted early is just that, a fantasy.

The fantasy you've constructed in the wake of the President's administration removing the last epidemiologist from China (they've never offered credentials of the "doctors" supposedly on the ground at the time), a travel ban so porous it couldn't be effective, along with the blatant disregard for his published statements (recorded with his knowledge!) to Woodward, his appointment of (politely) complete effing wackos to handle things, non-stop lies to Americans even with the full knowledge of the severity, and more, to deny reality is truly earth shattering willful blindness. That's not even a complete list, and it's so damning already that he should be begging forgiveness from the families of the dead.

Tell that to the countries that have this largely under control by acting early and not calling it a hoax.

You mean like Japan which never had a lockdown? Or Canada which got by fine with a "partial lockdown"?

So what is your point exactly? That calling the pandemic a hoax, discouraging wearing masks and social distancing, bragging about stopping flights from China except for Americans, opening restaurants, stores, malls and sporting events were all good for this thing?
