No, don't aerate it. Oxygen kills vitamin c, so just buy better orange juice.

or just eat a balanced diet. have some broccoli, peppers, spinach, kale, kiwis, papayas, strawberries, tomatoes, cabbage/kimchi -you get the idea. or, barring that, have a multivitamin gummie now and then.

also, there are people who DON'T always shake the bottle/carton of OJ briskly before pouring a glass? huh. what weirdos.

BREAKING NEWS: Shaking up your juice makes it taste less crappy. You know, like it says on the box.

Also, did you guys know you can remove the wrapper from American cheese slices before eating them! I JUST discovered this. Holy balls, are they easier to chew now!

TFA now has me curious about adding C02 to O.J., and what it would do to the flavour.

For various gastro reasons, not everyone can eat or drink everything. Funny thing here is, I haven't been able to drink orange juice (or any citrus) for almost 10 years because it burns  - colectomy.

If you add Kahlua to OJ it tastes exactly like a tootsie roll.  Read that tootsie rolls aren't chocolate at all but some amalgam of orange and coffee flavorings, so I took that to the obvious farkers' conclusion.

Orange and coffee? Weird, I've never gotten that from Tootsie Rolls. I do remember as a kid, eating the French fries in my cafeteria along with one of their brownies tasted EXACTLY like scrambled eggs. I got 2 other people to verify this oddity.

From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tootsie_Roll#Ingredients :

The current U.S. ingredients of a Tootsie Roll are: sugar, corn syrup, palm oil, condensed skim milk, cocoa, whey, soy lecithin, and artificial and natural flavors.[18]

So they definitely *have* cocoa, but of course artificial/natural flavor can be literally almost anything, so *shrug*

Yeah, this re: shaking stuff. I dunno why I do it for most things, eg crack the seal on Gatorade, re-seal, shake, drink. But for orange juice, I like pulpy OJ. So I shake it to redistribute the pulp so I don't end up with a bottle of sludge at the end.

But 99% of the stuff I shake then drink makes no sense at all.

Oh also, one thing my roommate does that drives me absolutely insane, and it's actually like three-level annoying (thinking about carbonated drinks because of this thread reminded me of it).

1. Drinks 2 liters straight from the bottle. We have dozens of plastic glasses I borrowed from work. USE THEM.
2. Refuses to refrigerate them. We have plenty of space, and in the winter, THE ENTIRE OUTSIDE IS A REFRIGERATOR. USE IT.
3. This is the one that sends me to the moon and sparked off an argument I almost moved out over (unrelated shiat that came up because we had both been drinking), SLOWLY TWISTING THE CAP OFF AND RELEASING THE CARBONATION SO IT'S BASICALLY FLAT THE INSTANT HE TAKES THE FIRST SIP.

*Eye twitch*

1. roommate is simply weird/lazy. maneuvering the narrow opening of a (relatively) heavy 2 liter to your mouth and slugging back fizzy stuff can't be easier then using a glass. or maybe grew up without a dishwasher and just always avoided making any dishes?

2. sometimes when people grow up poor, without reliable access to refrigeration (like the power is sometimes turned off), or only access to a tiny refrigerator used for stuff like meat, they buy soda specifically because it will stay drinkable both opened and unrefrigerated -unlike juice or milk or even brewed tea (grows mold). maybe he's just really used to warm soda.

3. some 2 liters seems to always volcano out of the bottle on first opening, even when they've been sitting unshaken/un-jostled for days. i notice it most on walmart generics and publix seltzer waters. if so, the "slow release" is the only way to keep half the drink in the bottle. this is especially true with warm soda -CO2 is less soluble in warm water and "rushes" out whenever the pressure is released, see entry 2.

*or dude KNOWS how much this is getting under your skin and likes to make your eye twitch 😉

if you haven't been able to taste OJ for over a decade, maybe you shouldn't advise others on how to improve its flavor?

not everyone has enough money to buy this every single time? or lives near a mariano's?

we know that orange juice concentrate gets seriously deoxygenated/deaerated into some creepy-ass white/clear liquid (creepy ass-white liquid?) until bottling time when the colors and flavor-profile-packs get added back. and I imagine they want to still have it as aseptic as possible, so I doubt they're re-introducing the poor thing to the concept of air.

but my orange juice invariably involves a cocktail shaker, some ice, and some manner of spirits, so I guess I been Doin' It Rite all along?

thanks, lifehacker! /s

pouring soda into another container kind of ruins it even more than drinking it out of the bottle.

I'll ignore you being wrong, while adding that canned POP, yes pop, not soda is the best version of itself.

FTA: "If you find yourself confronted with a glass of sub-par citrus juice, there is one thing you can to improve it instantly: shake the heck out of it."

Excuse me, but if you shake the heck out of your glass of juice, won't you end up with an empty glass, and juice dripping from everything?
