I am not a fan of either team in the Cup Finals this year and preferred the Tour d France to anything else sporting these last three - four weeks.  I don't live to die based on what particular sportsball team wins or does not win its respective championship.

I watched three out of four. What do I win?

Non-hockey fan here. I might be inclined to watch more hockey when I see teams not from the Sun Belt playing. Sorry but Dallas and Tampa are not wintry cities & I can't take it seriously.

Fox had baseball, think NASCAR & NBA were on cable b/c ABC had CFB.

I love playoff hockey but could not get into this year.  Having no fans for a playoff game is just like watching a regular season game in early November.

Wait, you mean to tell me that hockey ratings aren't huge?

Next thing you'll tell me is that singing shows and reality tv bring huge ratings, and over 40% of this country will vote for ye who shall not be named.

No sports have fans. Don't need them got that TV money and sponsorships. Fans are icing on the cake.

I dislike 75% of those sports, so I watched hockey.

According to the very scientific "Soopey's Fark number of posts in thread poll"  ®™ a majority of Farkers were watching hockey!

If the Knights had beaten the Stars, then last night's numbers probably would've been disastrous going against the Raiders' first game in Las Vegas.

Relax, the playoffs are supposed to be in the spring, there's no need to panic.

Considering who's in charge of your government, you shouldn't be doing too much bragging about your country's popular choices.

The playoff action has been great, I can't imagine why I'd let that be impacted by someone else watching or not watching.  Admittedly the finals matchup is a bit of a bummer.

The way Tampa stays down after a hit you'd think they like being on ice more than a Cuba libre. The difference is a Cuba libre doesn't immediately eye the official each time its poured

watched some of the last 2 cups games. I just havent really been paying attention to the schedule since my team got eliminated

Yeah, we live in 2020 now, in case you didn't notice. We can make ice. God forbid hockey grows a fanbase or two outside of the northeastern border of Canada.

Two of which I would love to be able to watch on easy to access replay (the first two, never watched Gaelic football).  Hell, we have enough sports channels, surely one of them could just replay the overseas Rugby and AFL instead of another 3 hours of "let's repeat what we just said over the last 3 hours about handegg!"

While bubble sports are still better than no sports, you can't help but feel like bubble sports are just glorified rec-league tournaments. It's difficult to get excited for 12 guys celebrating.

Fans and game environment matter.

ESPN2 and FS2 are showing quite a bit of Aussie rules. They are showing all of the elimination and qualifying finals (not sure about the Grand Final - it may end up on Fox Soccer Plus).

Did not grow up in a city with an NHL team and virtually no youth hockey and zero high school hockey. But it looks like a great game and I have tried to watch but I just can't follow the puck. And if I don't know what's happening, I am not watching. Maybe a steady diet of games would help, but, eh.

Out here in the west, AFL is either 11:30 PM, 3 AM, or 6 AM, and then we flow into EPL on the weekends.  With the replays, those useless daytime hours of "work" could be filled with proper sporting goodness.

Yeah.  I mean, 5 TSN's (The Sports Network) 4 Sportsnets (1 of which is a big premium costing channel) and the TSN's will play 2 different things across all 5 channels, and the Sportsnets will go "Baseball or baseball recap", "handegg or handegg talk show", or recap show.

I never understood this argument.  You never hear "I won't watch Football where cows don't naturally occur to make the ball" or "No cities should have baseball teams that don't have naturally growing maple or ash trees to make the bats."

Lane. I mean, the rights to the National Rugby League or whatever can't be that expensive.

I do give ESPN credit for offering a lot of leagues, even if they rarely appear on their linear channels. They even had cricket for a while and I learned the basic rules. Just the basic ones, not the 20 ways to get a wicket and the futuristic predictive technology used to determine leg before wicket. My point being, cricket is a very complicated sport.

I learned cricket while working for an ISP in tech support.  Our pod of 6 people had a TV on mute (in case we had to check channels for issues).  Every day, 90 minutes of funny videos and Whose Line, then 90 minutes of cricket, which 2 of the guys used to play.  So we picked up the basics of "this is a 6, this is a 4, this is the bowler"  but not the full scoring rules or stats.

I can completely see it as a great bar watching sport.  Complex enough to be understood while sober, and able to be fought over once drunk.

This. I'm a casual TV hockey fan but it is totally the best sport to see live. It's hard to pinpoint but it's just a different atmosphere were you feel less like a spectator and more like a participant. Ir maybe I'm overstating it. But hockey is fun live.

Everyone is an individual, people watch sports to forget politics and things that divide us.  Usually, things that politicians (especially lefties) like to do.  You take that escape away by supporting hate groups disguised as something else people will say F that and stop being entertained.  Again there is a reason why UFC is cleaning up and the rest aren't.  Hockey fans are some of the least racist  (NBA being the most) , you support a racist group even if only in passing your fans say I'm done.  One day when you cme to terms with the fact that anyone who looks at someone based on their physical characteristics and not the content of their character is the real racist, maybe,... just maybe you'll understand it is to be a good human.
