I just learned the other day that KitKat are made by Hershey in the US and Nestle everywhere else.

Halloween of last year I saw an ad for a Japanese snack subscription box. It had a small thumbnail of this Kit Kat - and I thought wtf? A cheese pizza kit kat?

/it's Apple Pie
//I love the normal kit-kats (white chocolate is ok as well) not adventurous enough to care about others.

I'm getting a kick because I just ate an Apple Pie Kit Kat.  In this case, the apple flavor was actually Apple Jolly Rancher flavor, which they somehow infused into the chocolate, and tasted very very wrong.

I get those without kit kats from time to time.

Why yes I do let the dog sleep on the bed sometimes.

at what point does one's family intervene?  Poutine Kit-Kats?  Tilapia?
to be fair, i do enjoy the cardamom.

I had lost most of my taste for Kit Kats for years til I discovered the wacky Japanese ones. I can't say I honestly like most of them, but it's fun to try. I feel like half of the ones I've seen are flavors based on one type of fermented bean paste or another.

The Sakura Sake (cherry blossom sake) flavor are kind of amazing. They're super rich, and have a definite sake-type funk to them, so luckily I can't polish off a whole bag at once ;)

I bought some green tea mochi flavored ones as a joke gift for someone, they weren't all that good, very mild flavor.

Tried the pumpkin one, it was like biting into a wax candle like most white chocolate. I don't think the Halloween flavors in the US are the same recipe as they are in Japan though. I'm sure "liberties" were taken. The Japanese raspberry kitkats are godly.

Some fave Japanese Kit Kat flavors:

- Wasabi (seriously, its good)
- Sake (they've got that alcohol smell and bite which is genuinely impressive)
- Hokkaido Melon

I think it was their sweet potato flavor which was good as well.

Like yeah, green tea and strawberry are good but those are easy mode in Japan - they have those flavors down.

We tried the apple pie too, and we all scored it meh. Not terrible, but probably not something I would buy. Some of the other flavors would be interesting to try.
