Putting aside the fact that the GOP is populated with idiots who don't care about heir country, what are they gonna do if Trump acts like Trump and pulls a Trump and nominates Jared or Rush or Ivanka?

What Lady G and the GOP doesn't understand is that the US doesn't negotiate with terrorists or traitors, and since the GOP is basically a bunch of traitors, we're done with you farkers.

We're going to rig it our way now. Good luck.

The population of America is strongly opposed to most Republican policy ideas.

They have spent decades reshaping districts, courts and election processes so that minority rule is easily established and maintained.

It is a shambles and a crime against the very democracy these pieces of shiat claim to love so much.

Every current member of the Republican party in Congress and the White House should be loaded into a rocket and shot straight at the moon.

And Fox News goes back to being Republican propaganda after a brief hiatus during the DNC Convention.

Lovely.

Too expensive, and too much glory in being interred there.  There are plenty of active volcanoes right here on Earth, and you don't need a rocket to dump things in them, either.

As recently as October 2018, the South Carolina Republican stated: "If an opening comes in the last year of President Trump's term, and the primary process has started, we'll wait till the next election."

They can obstruct day to day business by not allowing unanimous consent votes to go through, and can demand senators are in Washington for votes, during campaign season.

Except that applying "age or term limits" is blatantly unconstitutional.

The House Democrats can fire up the impeachment cannon, going after every single political appointee and the president and vice president. Send new articles of impeachment every day until the inauguration. That should slow the Senate down a bit.

If you want to gum up the parliamentary works, sending a few different articles of impeachment under seperate cover sheets so they are to be considered separately would do it.

This is exactly the way I feel about it.

The majority of Americans do NOT want the Senate to even talk about a new judge, let alone appoint one.  This is clear and obvious.  But no matter how loud we yell about it, much like Judge Kegstand, they will do it anyway.

Because whatever best suits their agenda FAR outweighs what the majority of Americans want.

So there really is no point in getting angry about it.  It's like screaming at a brick wall.

Another thing...  They can't find the time to pass a stimulus package, but you can bet your ass they'll make time for this.

I know that letting Trump put another drooling maniac on the SCOTUS is a disaster, but I don't think there is anything that can be done about it. In fact, I think there should be some sort of clarification that Congress needs to perform the tasks assigned to it by the Constitution. Holding out during Obama's term was bullshiat. I would be ok not getting "even" as long as we had some way to guarantee that this bullshiat ended here (I know, we can't).

It is obvious that the Constitution and all the rules that define and regulate the Federal government were written by people who assumed that at least the majority of people in the government would act in good faith. The right wing has attacked government like a computer hacker. They found a vulnerability in one area in order to attack other areas. In concrete terms, use the uneven representation that red states have in the Senate to hold off on placing judges until they were being picked by a Republican President. Then, use the right-wing judges to change the laws that ensured fair elections. Republicans can be elected President without getting the most votes. Districts are redrawn to eliminate democratic representation. And round and round we go. A self-perpetuating power accumulator that leaves the populous with no voice.

Talking point number one at the presser seemed to be reminding everyone RBG was opposed to adding seats to the Court.

To which I say, who cares?  Spending so many years at one overly glorified institution may well have made it harder for her to see that some real reform is needed.  Whether he chooses to stack the court or not, if Biden comes in with a majority in the Senate he could hold that threat over Roberts' head for at least two years.

Yep. And if this works, and Trump uses it to steal a second term? America is over. There's no coming back from it.

Americans will lose their health insurance and, thanks to preexisting conditions and price increases, will be barred from ever having it again. Women will no longer have bodily autonomy. LGBTQ people will be lucky if the Republicans don't make conversion therapy mandatory. Disabled people? Farked. Retired people, or people who are otherwise on fixed incomes? Farked. Small businesses? Farked, because they'll be absolutely steamrolled by unregulated corporations. The environment? Hoo boy you better believe THAT'S farked.

The Republicans are aiming to turn us into China. And their drooling jingoistic supporters will cheer for it every step of the way.

I kept hearing that it was really important for schoolchildren, mall shoppers, movie goers, concert attendees, and the like to die, and there was nothing that could be done to try to prevent future mass murders, because there was one final voice to protect, that just made all that death necessary.

But apparently that solution only applies to those who commit the atrocity of wearing a tan suit, or enjoying fancy mustard, or -- gasp! -- non-iceberg leafy greens.

Couldn't be any other reason it was ok from 2008-2016.  And, obviously, those are wayyyyy more egregious offenses than 205,000 dead Americans -- SO FAR -- and lonely toddlers in cages in the desert, and robbing the treasury blind, and stealing PPE in a pandemic, and destroying the Post Office (a Constitutionally-required service), and more.

I'm pretty sure you need a lot more delta-V than it takes just to escape Earth orbit to hit the Sun on a timeframe that doesn't exceed the lifespan of a spacecraft exposed to solar radiation & wind. Your other risk is that just barely escaping Earth orbit leaves you orbiting the sun really close to Earth's orbit, which can throw you off target or knock you around such that you end up in its orbit again, eventually.
