This needs to be addressed after Biden appoints those fifteen new liberal supreme court justices.
The tyranny of the minority needs to end. America needs to move forward.

Increasing the size of the court depends on the Democrats having at least 50 senators and it would require all of them to vote for it.

Someone will decide it's time to "reach across the aisle" and screw it up.

The rural skew towards stupidity and racism makes it hard to elect competent and honest representation.

Won't happen, even if Biden somehow manages to win (and Dems take the Senate). You really think someone running on a "I'm a moderate that can work with Republicans" platform is going to do something as radical as packing the courts?

Actually? Yeah I kinda do. This SC horse poop is a bridge too far for me.

They might play "hardball" and add two, but make sure they are both considered moderates (almost certainly one will be Merrick Garland) so as to be seen as not being unfair.

Which I mean, I totally get! Republicans got two seats by changing their mind on the rules so we "get them back".

I just hope everyone is clear that the new rule will be "you have to hold the Presidency and the Senate to get a Supreme Court Justice no matter what year of the presidency it is."

No one will be nominating the 67-year-old Garland to the Supreme Court

+ US Pacific Islands, North California, South California....  Get it as close to one person, one vote as possible.

Oh and PACK THE FARKING HOUSE.  Add 100 reps, you'll get 60 Democrats and 40 Republicans, the latter of which won't want to shrink the House back down (and thus eliminate their own jobs) when the pendulum swings back the other way.  This also would bring the Electoral College closer to one person- one vote.

I really like the argument of tying SCOTUS seats to the number of Circuit courts. It's easy to frame not so much as packing the courts, as reorganizing the judiciary in a way that really makes sense.

You genuinely think that Democrats are going to name a couple 40 year old firebrands? I think they will choose older moderate picks to emphasize that this is about parity not about stacking the court, and as a result virtually nobody will be happy.

I don't see why gerrymandering new states to secure a Senate majority would be any more egregious than the normal type of gerrymandering done to secure a House majority.

Why do Guam and American Samoa have to be a bunch of Indigenous peoples crushed by American military occupation? Give them state status so they have a semblance of self-rule or get off their rocks just like the UN Convention the USA helped write and is signatory to says.

That's going to require amendments to the constitution. Which means the states that this gives an eadvantage to will have to sign on.

So...

That isn't happening.

There are two solutions, both nearly impossible:

1. Millions of liberals need to move from California and New York to red and purple states.
2. California and New York need to each split into dozens of states, 80 to 90% of which would be blue.

He's a moderate who can work with Republicans if he has to.  And he will have to, if either the Dems don't take the Senate or they don't repeal the filibuster even if they do.

Just adding DC and PR as states would do wonders to rebalancing things.

And hey, maybe Republicans would be forced to be less complete dicks to minorities if they want to win more seats.

Yes, he voted to remove Trump from office. Ultimately though he is a social conservative and wants the supreme court to undo the liberal judicial victories of the past several decades.

That's a good question. After all we're trying to get proper 'diversity' right? The last count shows 600k+ homeless people in the US. That's more people than Wyoming... how come we don't have more homeless people in the senate huh? And I want to see at least 1 homeless person in any corporate board with more than 10 members!

2020-09-22 5:00:18 PM
Why should we stop at 2 or 3 new states? Split DC into a dozen regions and admit every one of those, one at a time. If Wyoming, with their cosmopolitan values, doesn't like it, then too bad.
