Intercessors for America, a pro-Trump political prayer group closely associated with White House aide Paula White and her One Voice Prayer Movement, has declared that the Supreme Court vacancy created by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg "belongs to God" and that whoever is nominated must believe only in precedent "that aligns with the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God."

I'm a little surprised they're willing to to toss the nomination to Poison Ivy.

Notice that you don't see the slogan "What Would Jesus Do?" anymore?

What does God need with a judgeship?

dionysusaur: Martian_Astronomer: "Whoever is nominated to the Supreme Court will understand the Constitution to be the Supreme Law of the Land; not their judicial interpretation of the Constitution."

This is actually an interesting tell: Inerrantist Christians believe that the Bible has a single, unified message on any topic that is "clear" with proper study, and that therefore they, as people, are not "interpreting" scripture, they're just doing what it says. (They love meaningless platitudes like "let scripture interpret scripture" or "use more clear passages to interpret less clear", while denying that they're taking an active role in deriving specific meanings from the text.)

Apparently they're extending this hermeneutic to the Constitution as well. I don't know if I'd say this is "dumber" than their fear of interpretation as it pertains to the Bible, but it's still really frikkin' dumb.

I always ask which version of the thing.

As well you should.
- Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"  He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too!  What franchise?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too!  Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"  "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Regions Council of 1879 or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over. -

Good point. I was holding out for that Hindu god who have problems finding shirts that fit. You know the one.

Except this is America, so it is going to be Dead God On A Stick, except they won't show the dead god actually on the stick because that is Papist Idolatry (except they will show their dead god but alive and hugging their favorite country singers which is totally not idolatry for reasons and such as).

If God descended from Heaven, all evidence suggests that Republicans would largely get the Sodom and Gomorrah treatment.
