There are no heroes.

I'm inclined to believe the heads at the pentagon would agree with a Trump's claims.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley spoke to Mark Meadows after Trump accused Pentagon leadership of waging wars to boost the profits of weapons manufacturers.

A broken clock is right twice a day, and Ike was right 60 years ago.

And all this time I didn't realize that "Bugger all" and "Jack shiat" were different strategies, who knew?

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: There are no heroes.

Heroes don't tend to thrive in rackets.

"I'm not saying the military's in love with me -- the soldiers are, the top people in the Pentagon probably aren't because they want to do nothing but fight wars so that all of those wonderful companies that make the bombs and make the planes and make everything else stay happy,."

This is probably the most nuanced understanding of the military-industrial complex that a President has said out loud since Eisenhower. I'm sure it was a complete accident- Trump doesn't use words to mean things, just to do mean things- but there it is.

Does "finger wagging" count?

You know, guys, if you'd just talked to your GOP buddies and had them vote to impeach, you could watched him squirm in prison. Instead, he's free to keep doing this over and over because, apparently, committing crimes and acts of treason while president aren't punishable.

The man expressed dismay! What more could he do?

The worst part is that letting Trump run rampant over the country isn't part of some grand plan on their part.  Just a bunch of compromised, stupid, greedy assholes letting this country go to shiat.

yes the military are the folks who just send troops to places or launch attacks. not the civilians who actually control the military

Im sure the military also insisted that weapons parts be built in every state so congressmen can wet their beaks and bring home pork.

Its not the military but the civilians in the pentagon and weapons manufacturers and congress who are to blame for any spending or wastefulness that the military is tasked with using up or mothballing

He swore an oath to protect the Constitution against domestic enemies. I remember when oaths meant something.

Still think the military won't support Trump's coup?

Top pentagon officials would pop a bullet into the brain pan of any individual member of the troops for a $3,000 annual bonus.

Despite what your local recruiter would have you believe, the only people who really care about the troops are their own families and the oft derided activists and faith groups that oppose war in favor of diplomacy, humanitarian rather than military aid, and active peace building.

The military is just as complicit as a civilian counterparts. People have made careers managing billion dollar project, even getting a couple ranks in the process. You don't become Colonel unless you manage large projects or lead people in combat.

Uhm...what exactly do you all expect serving officers to do?

Esper can go fark himself anyway.

Rich draft dodging asshole who demonstrates nothing but contempt for the military is popular with lots of military people.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Sadly.

I mean, I knew at the time that the Republicans' "draft dodger" bullshiat about Clinton (Bill) was bullshiat, but this obviously proves it conclusively.

These are the people in charge of protecting our nation. What a joke. A tragic, bitter joke.

Agree wholeheartedly. I mean, saying terrible things isn't great for him, nor is the inaction the Russia bounties. But serving officers shouldn't be in the political space like this, it's even codified into the UCMJ.
