You mean these Lions?

Detroit was the first non-expansion team to lose every game in a full season since World War II. This was their second winless season in franchise history (1942, see below). With this season, the Lions became only the second NFL franchise with two full winless seasons, and the only one still in existence; this was also the first winless season since the institution of the 16-game schedule in 1978.

Restore the roar, baby

More US presidents have been shot than playoff wins by the Lions since the 1960's!

I had plans in the afternoon, so it was nice that they got their collapse out if the way in the first half instead of waiting until the 4th quarter.

Haven't watched a second of the season this year and it was the best decision I've made in my life.  I still follow the news stories - but I'm not spending any time watching that garbage any longer.

The past couple of weeks I've been travelling, so I haven't had the time/opportunity to suffer through a Lions game. I did catch a bit of football yesterday at the airport and during the evening game, and that was fine.  I had no dog in that fight, and it felt nice to not scream obscenities at stupid shiat. Funny thing - I was flying out of Detroit, and on all of the televisions, they had the Eagles game. I had a reasonable chortle at that.

Lions are 4-12, and they are going to get hammered this coming Sunday. The Cards are on the way up, and the Lions are still down. I dunno if they could get any worse. Another 0-16? It's possible with this team.

And all because the Ford family are idiots as owners, and they hire idiots as GM's, and, when they finally get a coach that is actually trying to turn things around, they fire him (looking at Caldwell when thinking about this) because he isn't winning the division using the dregs of players they gave him.

Just remember, 97.1 station management chose him over the lions when he had a Drive time NYC contract on the table.

Lions said they would not go on 97.1 if he was still with them.

His Detroit contract got Renewed with a sizeable bump, and they let the lions walk. They could have let Mike go without a payout and had the lions broadcast.

As much as people biatch about him, he engages the callers and keeps people listening. Which is his job

At least he's not Radio WoJo, I prefer Newspaper WoJo, but TV WoJo is the worst WoJo.

Totally agreed. Caldwell had the team playing competitive football and they were just a few plays shy in close games of making the playoffs in both of those 9-7 years. I've said before that the Fords are interested in only one thing - aggressive mediocrity. They want the team to be just good enough to make noise, but never be good enough to reach the promised lands.

Fat Patricia doesn't make it to the end of the season. Him and Quinn are out if they lose Thanksgiving. Hell it might not even take that long.

I understand why they let Caldwell go, they didn't want another Marvin Lewis (alllllways juuuuuuust shy of winning in the playoffs for a decade plus). The problem is that they bought into the Belichick coaching tree meme and it blew up spectacularly in their faces.

The falcons have nothing on the Lions.  They have at least sniffed a superbowl and had more than 1 playoff win in the last half a century.

This was the pattern in that famous winless season. They were often leading at half time, even against some pretty strong teams, but they'd find a way to completely collapse in the second half.

Thing about Valenti is that he is very harsh on MSU, while a bootlicker like Wojo will never level much criticism at U of M.  He couldn't even call for Hoke to be fired until after he was gone.

Yeah, I was (more than a bit) older, and it was crushing. I'm serious when I said I haven't purposefully watched a Lions game since then, but on the other hand I have Red Wings and Tigers season tickets, so at least I'm not consistent.

I was gonna say. You want to choke a game away you come to Atlanta. And listen, the only reason we don't have 3+ no win seasons is because we ALWAYS have a moron running the team that thinks winning pointless games after you're eliminated from playoff contention is good for the franchise somehow. I mean last season should've had us in the top 3 bringing chase young or a cornerback who didn't get torched by any decent receiver he faced in college to the A but then after starting 1-7 DQ decides to get us a middle round pick and didn't get fired.
