But Trump said he had a better medical plan all ready to go. That was five years ago but I'm sure he's been spending that time just tweaking it and waiting until he had control of the Senate and House.

Biden isn't a fool like Trump. If a Democratic House and Senate sent him a bill he'll sign it.
Biden knows both how to influence the process early on and how to compromise.

And the supreme court will strike it down.

See how this works?

When I was a Republican I was dedicated, I was up to my ears in elephant shiat. This was the plan since at least the 90's. Get lots of conservative judges, take the SCOTUS, then no liberal socialist bullshiat will ever be passed. Higher taxes? HA! Universal Healthcare with its universalism? HA!

The US will now experience a long downward slide.

God, this challenge (California v. Texas) sucks. It's just so, so, stupid.

The early challenge in NFIB v. Sebilius, where the medicaid expansion requirement was struck down, was... kinda valid-ish. It wasn't an entire sham.

This is entirely a sham.

The re-publicans screamed about having a replacement ready to go on day one for ten years.  They got their chance.  turns out they had nothing.  They've got nothing now.

Never had, never will.  The conservative medical plan is 'die quickly, die soon, die painfully, but you've got to pay all your paycheck to save me from a cold"

Because conservaties and republicans are whiny, selfish little biatches.

I'm not sure it's a talking point to repeat a candidates campaign promises in the context of an implication that they were lying.  But you're really nailing that "concern" meme on the internet, bro.  So congrats on that.

/I happen to think he wouldn't veto it, but because I think the situation has changed enough since March 10th when he said that to justify reconsidering the position

The underlying problem being, that without someone telling them to treat human beings equally, in a capitalistic system, insurance companies will do the wrong thing and charge more. That the market demands cruelty and profit over people.

This is farked up, wrong, and everybody knows it, and no one shames the insurance companies, or their boards, or their shareholders. We all just shrug our shoulders and lament when this inevitably comes to pass.

Compassionate capitalism, my ass.

/ I can't obvious tag me comment.

2020-09-21 10:18:02 AM
People will be screwed, but I cannot imagine that insurance companies want to give up all that sweet, sweet cash they've been pocketing the last 9 years.

Don't forget that most of the expenses for insurance companies come from about 10% of the population with the most serious illnesses. (cannot remember where I read that, but it's been around for a while)

IF they drop people with pre-existing conditions, they will not only lose people in the marketplace (and people will lose the ability to purchase plans, which will drastically reduce revenue), they will lose people off employer-based plans, which will reduce the people on employer-based plans, which will increase prices for employers, which will increase prices for employees...

This will not end well for rapepublicans if they go this route.

/not to mention the revolt of the American citizens
//we're in a new era where people are not afraid to take to the streets
///imagine a bunch of people who go into financial ruin, or have nothing to lose because they've just been given a death sentence

Every single time Dems speak in public about when to replace RBG this should be the first thing out of their mouths:

"If the public accepts the GOP confirming a new judge prior to the election, the GOP will take away your healthcare when you need it the most."

That is a really simple, effective message. 2018 proved that it works, and it's even more true now.

This.

Need to push SCOTUS to 13 to move on any legislation. Any Dem legislation will be turned down. Despite all 3 branches, if they dont fix SCOTUS day 1, it'll be a lame duck Presidency.

Well. It's been living in fantasy land plus, especially recently, a phenomenal amount of asset inflation. On top of the asset inflation from '08/'09 that never went away.

I'm not sure anyone's devised a measure that can accurately determine whether stocks are currently up or down per se, compared to a few years ago, yet. Shiat's weird AF.

Um, that will be ruled unconstitutional too. Because [arbitrary reasons].

With six extreme conservatives on the SC, everything the Dems pass will be ruled unconstitutional. Hell, Social Security and Medicare will be ruled unconstitutional. The Constitution itself will be ruled unconstitutional (except the 2A, of course).

Biden had better stack that farking court, or we are boned far beyond just the ACA.
