There are no GOP swing votes.

What a f*cking farce, again, made even more absurd by the juxtaposition of Collins and Murkowski. Any time I see something involving those two as possible hold-outs, I can reliably conclude that the author is either:

A. trolling, or
B. a f*cking moron

... and I can stop reading right there. As for the idea of a Tennessee (or any) Republican, especially Alexander, acting with integrity? Give me a break.

Scumbag.

Collins, Murkowski, Grassley, Romney. Those are your four, if you have four to get.

So are you A or B?

I hope all the bad things happen to McConnell and Alexander today. And for the rest of their lives

Gimme a break.  Like he was EVER a swing vote.

Again, Susan minced her words. Before the election. They have two full months to be technically correct before the next congress.

You need one more to counter Manchin.

If anyone thinks that ANY of the Republican senators (save maybe Romney) will go against Trump, I have a bridge to sell you.

2020-09-21 12:50:30 PM
The afternoon of the day Biden is swore into office, with the GOP still holding onto the Senate, an opening comes up for the Supreme Court. I expect Mitch to state that it's too close to an election year to hold any hearings on  a new justice and we have to wait

2020-09-21 12:51:52 PM
What he meant to say was, no one should be surprised that republicans are pieces of shiat.

2020-09-21 12:52:24 PM
Anybody surprised or shocked by this is laughably naive.

2020-09-21 12:54:02 PM
Considering how quickly Collins and Murkowski signaled their hold out, it was obvious that there won't be four Senators crossing the aisle

2016: the year a narcissistic fascist took the highest office in The United States.
2020: the year we officially became The Fourth Reich. All because party over country.

Fark. This. Timeline.

You best believe they are going to wipe their asses with everything and they will slam theough a lifetime Justice before Jan 20th, protocol, ethics, law, constitution, all of it be damned.

This is the last moment to slam the door on their authoritarian power grab, you damn well better believe they're going to do it.

2020-09-21 12:57:11 PM
They are going to do this, no matter how much it pisses off the majority of the country.  And they will do this because they feel they are legally allowed to.

We really have no other recourse but to be even MORE angry, and be even MORE energized to vote these bastards out.  Also, there is a very good chance that once this is all over, the very next move is going to be to add more justices and regain the majority.

What's farked up is that they KNOW this.  It is being screamed loudly from all over the country.  So why the hell are they still planning on doing it?!

Holy unexpected turn of events, Batman!

Like others have said, there aren't any Republican "swing" votes.

But her emails. This is fine. Doesn't matter who runs the government. Both sides. etc. (wanking motion)

You all watch too many movies

No one is coming to save this one.  There isn't going to be a McCain Moment

They have the votes, they aren't concerned about the election and that is that.

Then we're farked.  Grassley's not going to turn, he never has before when there was this much on the line.

Because a 6-3 Supreme Court majority is the grand prize. Because it doesn't matter who controls Congress and the White House when the court will strike down any progressive legislation for a generation.

Which is why people  are talking about expanding the Court.

Then we need to have a serious conversation about two things:  statehood for DC and PR, and getting more SC justices than the 9 already there.

edmo: There are no GOP swing votes.

Motherfarking -THIS-.

The only ones who have shown themselves willing to stand up against McConnell are McCain and Romney. And McCain's dead and won't have his seat filled until after Nov.

They are NOT trustworthy. Quit acting like any of these assholes won't gladly see us all dead if it means kissing Trump's ponderous ass.

I live a state over. Can't wait to piss on Alexander's grave

The fact that McConnell does whatever he wants with no consequences or recourse to stop him is more proof to me that the whole system is a joke.

This situation makes me so angry that I can't bother to say something more clever.

If it involves farking over America, you can count on it being done by a Southerner.

We really should have just depopulated the Confederate states after the Civil War, just like we chased off the royalists after the Revolution.

Mitch is 78. I'd like to hope that he's soon to land ass-first in Hell in a few years, but who knows what the turtle DNA does with his lifespan.

The dems have been spineless when considering their willingness to fight dirty, so they probably think that the Democratic Party is incapable of putting in two extra court justices.

Lamar Alexander is still a farking thing. What they say is true. Evil doesn't die.

right now politics is all about winning and losing so this should no way be surprising. I thought however there would be a chance to have a gang of 8 style deal where no Justice pick this term was traded for no packing of court and debate rules change for the next term. But if this judge gets confirmed then the dems do need to pack the court and change the debate rules because they cant really sit idle and let the opportunity pass

A new president is too inexperienced to nominate a SCOTUS nominee in his first two years

I actually don't know why the President is the one doing it anyway.

I seriously don't think that people who know nothing about the law should be appointing judges.  At any level.
It don't think they should be the commander of the military while knowing dick about the military.

For some reason, this country seems to think that if you become President you are suddenly qualified for all of those things.

Just seems dangerous stupid to me.
