Great.  Somehow cobble together 100 appearances a year and you can make $20-25k.  Awesome.

Yep. People tend to forget that figures like this aren't hourly rates that are being charged 2,040 times a year. Based on what the article says about prep time, this is damn near a half-day affair, so she's lucky if she can manage 2 or 3 a week.

Also, she has an assistant, so divide that $250 fee between two people.

Yeah, but realistically they are also cash "tips" that are probably earned depending on the gig and/or clientele.

And it takes 3 hours to just get ready and in the outfit. JFC get a job at a gas station would pay more.

Gas station attendants don't get paid 500 dollars to work 8 hours a week. That would be 40 hours, give or take the local irregularities of supply and demand pricing for hiring an employee on the hourly. At 11 dollars, that 450 before taxes at 40 hours.

And having worked at a gas station, even though I'm a fat ugly guy, I would rather cosplay twice a week for weirdos than interact with all the Karens and Kyles and Chads. Well, that and the shiat tier bosses you can get if you are an Independent gas station.

"Hey, you, the one making $9/hr, you don't make enough money to skip work and go to the labor board because I only hire desperate people. If someone drives off without paying, you have to pay for it. It's illegal, but who is gonna stop me? Not nobody."

It's a 1947 picture of a Weeki Watchee mermaid. The photographer put it in the public domain and gave a lot of her negatives to the LoC in the 70's. It's a great pic with no copyright issues, so I'm not surprised it's been used elsewhere.

/I have a canvas print of it hung above my TV

Its use in the Evans album predates her relinquishing her copyright, and is by far its most famous association.

I didn't say she didn't.  My comment was for those who want her to quit her self employed part-time job she loves and work elsewhere.  It's also why I used the word "job(s)" since the rich people she works for at the private club may also be assholes.
