Those two have waffled more than Eggo. They'll toe the line when the time comes.

Has Romney said anything yet?  If anyone would vote against it, I think he would

2020-09-20 1:15:32 PM
Sounds wonderful. So glad we can count on them staying true blue and standing up to the train wreck headed their way.

2020-09-20 1:16:16 PM
They can (probably?) seat Kelly (AZ-D) in November to help shift the numbers.

Who cares?  They still have from November 4 to January 20...

Lisa Murkowski joins Susan Collins in saying confirmation of a new Supreme Court justice shouldn't happen before the election.

This means absolutely nothing. You might even say it's ... fake news.

2020-09-20 1:46:26 PM
Oh, stop it.

You cannot trust Republicans.

2020-09-20 1:47:03 PM
Fark Collins that worthless biatch.

She thinks Mainers are that stupid to elect her if she opposes whatever Nazi the Federalist scumbags want on SCROTUS?

Actually, they probably are.

2020-09-20 1:47:37 PM
Oh....fark that scumbag Federalist George ConArtist.

Like voting to convict on only one of the Articles of Impeachment, if it's possible to not vote and vote at the same time, Rmoney would do it.

We've been down this road of 'hope' before. It never seems to end.

'Before the election' does not equal 'before the inauguration'.

Sorry America. You ceded too much power to the executive branch over the past decades. And now you have a piece of shiat executive and a cowardly GOP senate who covers for him. The scumbags will fill the vacancy with another turd...time for Plan B.

2020-09-20 4:13:43 PM
The GOP Senate is NOT cowardly.  They are COMPLICIT.

2020-09-20 4:25:44 PM
Okay, purple state people. Time to let your red-dawg senators know this could be the mistake that costs them your vote. Get their office on the phone already.

2020-09-20 4:32:53 PM

Demetrius: 'Before the election' does not equal 'before the inauguration'.

Yes, this. I don't accept anything short of 'no vote until after the Inauguration."

Confirming someone between the election and the inauguration is even worse than confirming someone before the election.

Either way, Biden better farking pack the Court!

2020-09-20 4:37:41 PM
Yeah.  They're liars. They're confirming someone before inauguration.

2020-09-20 4:38:56 PM
Unless I seriously misread their statements both said that the senate should not be voting on this before the election, not that they would vote against it when it comes up.

2020-09-20 4:39:08 PM

ShavedOrangutan: Who cares?  They still have from November 4 to January 20...

You mean January 3rd. Congress gets sworn in before the President.

2020-09-20 4:40:37 PM
The problem is that nothing gets a Republican aroused more than packing the courts with ideolog judges. They're going to get the votes.

2020-09-20 4:40:52 PM
I don't believe them.

At best they get a note from daddy saying that they are allowed to abstain because it won't make a difference.

They have carefully worded their comments. Before the election.

Once the election is over, all is fair. Regardless of the outcome, they will install a 9th justice before the end of this congressional session.

Book it, done.

2020-09-20 4:41:55 PM
I have more faith in the two of them teaming up to solve mysteries as Hatchet-Head and Quivers than I do for them to get in the way of King Trump.

2020-09-20 4:42:44 PM
Haven't we learned this enough over the years? Don't trust a Republican not to vote in Trump's favor. When it comes down to a vote, they'll all March in lockstep same as always, and deny they ever had any doubts.

Don't forget about Manchin, he's technically a Democrat but he'll likely vote with the Republicans on this.

2020-09-20 4:44:49 PM
If Republicans tip the SCOTUS and Thet start getting everything they want like the end of abortion and no gun restrictions, what are they going to use as leverage to get votes? Or by that time will true voting be a thing of the past and this is just another sign of the end of the US as we know it?

Yep, that "after the election" is key. She votes to confirm after Biden wins but before he's inaugurated, she doesn't lie.

But you can always trust Democrats to toe the line. Republicans reach across the aisle to placate way too often.

It doesn't matter if a few senators vote no. What matters is whether or not the whoever gets nominated gets confirmed.

Collins at least went as far as to say that the person elected in November should be the one to nominate the next Justice. But even then it's still Collins so I have no faith in her.

Best case scenario, Romney and, I guess, Gardner say no votes before the election.  Then Arizona goes to Kelly and he's seated in time to offset Collins flaking out during the lame duck session.

Yes, it's unlikely, but probably the best chance, short of the Democrats coming up with a major procedural delay.

I believe Murkowski. She's lost the GOP primary in her state before & still won in the general on a write in. She's not beholden to the GOP.

I also firmly believe Collins will not vote to confirm before Nov 3.

On Nov 4, after Collins loses, her constituents can no longer do anything to her, so she'll absolutely vote to confirm in the lame duck session as a final fark you to Maine.

I know it's a 0% chance scenario.  So just for entertainment value, imagine if the Senate tied and Pence decided he had no farks left to give, and voted against to screw over Trump.  I would sell my soul to see that.

2020-09-20 4:57:49 PM
They're (the criminals selling your Republic out from under you)

...are all in. This is a big piece to move across the board.

This is a "just try and stop us" game.

As has been posted a thousand times, stating that they are opposed to seating a new justice right now does NOT mean they will vote no when Mitch McConnell's soulless husk calls for it in session.

Whatever they're bloviating about on social media or as they run by a reporter is meaningless. Collectively they've demonstrated they're cultists that vote to keep themselves in power. They should be dragged from office and shamed for eternity.

I've said before that there's a nonzero chance Donnie offs himself if he loses.

What if Donnie decides to take Pence with him?

I absolutely believe them, or not, it doesn't matter.  They both said they were opposed to bringing it to the floor.  Nothing more.  They have no choice in that.

When it does come to the floor, they didn't say they wouldn't vote to confirm.  Which they both will.
