If you're somewhat vulnerable, find masks very uncomfortable but still have to be in places with other people on occasion, it would make a lot of sense. It looks more comfortable than a normal mask, though I do wonder how hot it would get inside.

Great, now I will have to start wearing my matching gimp suit every day of the week. Do you know how hard that thing is to pull up over my thighs?!

Because Fark anyone who can't afford one, right?

I bet you could rig up something with icepacks or dry ice and air condition it.

I want to get one, tint the screen enough they can't see my real face, but use a screen behind it to play animations. First one up - Max Headroom! Add a speaker, and I'd be set!

I bought one of these for general handiwork (chopping down trees, woodworking, soldering etc) because they were surprisingly cheap. Although I realised after ordering it I should have gotten the 7502 which exhausts downwards.

Then saw the P100 filters were like $3 each (P > N, and 100 = 99.97% filtering vs 95s 95%)

So planning just to rock one around the streets.

I already have a 6700 (full face) but it's too bulky for everyday usage, and it was like $300 so I'm too scared to use it.

How much does this helmet fog up with condensation inside when the wearer talks? I want to see a video demonstration.

Not gonna lie: I'd buy one.

i spent from 8/18-8/30 in the hospital having my goddamn eye removed and I honestly wanted to stay another week because we have 7 labrador-sized inside mutt dogs.

Even with all the swelling from them scraping my eye socket clear to the bone and yanking my optic nerve as far out as they could to cut as far back as they could, it was the best sleep I've had since Dec. (I'm a smoker and alcoholic, so refused anything stronger than acetaminophen and naproxen, so it wasn't feel-good drugs).

I'd love to sleep in one of these.

You didn't realize it at the time, but people wearing fishbowls on their heads were protected all along. And you called them crazy. You said, 'Hey, that guy's got a fishbowl on his head. He's crazy." Well, who's crazy now, people who still have goldfish, who's crazy now?

Factoird:  Babe Ruth used to put cabbage leaves under his cap to keep his head cool.

I think it was a trick that medieval peasants and ancient warriors used to use, but don't quote me on that because I am just supposing, unlike the factoid, which is real.

Nowadays they just air condition the whole goddam stadium so even the players are comfortable during day games.

That sounds so awful, it's like a torture scene from science fiction.

If you don't mind my asking, why the fark did you need to have your eye removed? It's probably a behavioral byproduct of evolution, but I tend to try and find out why people received injuries or died young so I can find out how to avoid those situations.

Yep. There's a reason fire-fighters use masks where breathing is separated from the vision part. Also, gas masks are real things a person from 3M which do this.

From the split second I went into the ER (since no one is taking new patients, still, and it was getting bad) to finally get my eye taken care of, I was forthright about having an addictive personality, exactly how much I drank and for how long, and was adamant about no opiates, no NOTHING addictive or could be abused. Told them I'd never had DTs besides sweating and grumpiness and had gone clean a week at a time to test myself, and I would tell them if I needed half a benzo so I wouldn't die in my sleep

So they admitted me to let me detox before surgery...and put me on Gabapentin. Which is abusable and has longer/worse withdrawals than just getting through monitored DTs and sometimes has to be weaned off over weeks. I weaned off while still in the hospital.

Then they sent me home with 40 Oxys. I flushed all but 5 (just in case on day 10 when the slow-release nerve blocks started wearing off). Haven't touched them.

Farking doctors...

Oh, and I didn't bail on the pain meds to drink. I have at most a 6 pack/wk, now that the habit is done and the fear of DTs is passed. I honestly feel better overall despite having my eye orbit scraped to the bone and a chunk of leg muscle removed to fill the socket to prevent brain infections.

I don't know you at all but based on the little I do know, you are an alcoholic and a smoker, you just had an eye surgically removed, you apparently don't have a choice about where you live or who you live with, and are forced to live with someone(s) who have seven dogs.

This is the saddest thing I have heard in a long time. Wow, I hope things get better.
