I think I can speak for the rest of the organisms in saying that we also have some concerns

Well... the subject of this article was very far down on my list of possibilities.
1.  Police
2.  Politicians
3.  School Administrators
4.  HOA's
5.  This one girl in my 8th grade class
6.  This one guy in my barracks during boot camp
...
10.  Actual hogs.

They've been rioting for months, but qualified immunity, unions, and complicit prosecutors make them difficult to bring under control.  We can at least defund them.

2020-09-20 1:58:32 AM
releasing a few pigs and then coming back later when they had multiplied themselves in the wild was literally a big strategy of the first european visitors to the americas.

the boarbuster trap videos made the rounds a while ago and they were fun to watch

i'm sure i'd feel differently if it were my problem, but on some level it's nice to see mankind hasn't completely taken the fight out of the wild in this conquered land

From the article, federal hogs can host 30 viral and bacterial diseases as well as 40 parasitic diseases.

So, no thanks, I'm good.

Domestic hogs can too, that's why we cook meat.  I'm also assuming you meant feral rather than federal.  If you're talking about FBI agents or US Marshals... I have to say that I don't support cannibalism.

The real question is why it was ever on your list.

Well, if you wanted an enemy you could murder without compunction, feral hogs are it. That's a reason people build raised rides, drive to the middle of a field and play rabbit screams over the stereo. Attract all the predators and shoot them with semi-automatic rifles.

The idiots here in Texas brought them in because they were bored of hunting everything else so they wanted more things to kill. It's a self made problem

I had never heard of this, so i googled it. Fark, these things grow to be massive. We probably have posting rules on showing dead animals, so i leave it to you to GIS. I found one that weighed over 1,000 pounds.

I've always found that amusing. Surely, if there were instances of roving bands of wild hogs attacking people, there would be news stories.

Turns out, it has happened. 5 times since 1825

I saw a pack near my house last month. My son walked into one while walking the woods behind our house a few years ago. It's a good thing he and the hogs were startled and scattered because they can be dangerous.

A study about two years ago found a lot of bodies of water in our area were contaminated because of the feral hogs. Think twice about swimming in the lake.

This is what I've heard too. My understanding is that you can make decent sausages but they have to be heavily spiced.

Slow cook the gamey pork in orange juice, then fry it in a skillet with plenty of oil.  We're apex predators, hillbillies with guns should be taking care of this "problem".

According to TFA, hillbillies with guns made this problem, and are now siphoning off federal tax dollars and failing to fix it.

This will lead to further consolidation in the farm sector, ultimately.

I blame my phone for federal / feral mistake. I shouldn't be forced to read my own posts to make sure they make sense.

As for cooking, in order to make sure feral meat is safe you'd basically have to cook it til it resembles boot leather. Farm raised pigs don't have to reach the same internal temperature to be considered safe as feral hogs.
