Probably their best performance. Not as obscure as Tennger Calvary's metal throat singing. Or the very existence of Alestorm/Gloryhammer.

I randomly catch these guys at a festival once.  It was hilariously ridiculous.

More power to you if they're your thing, but I just couldn't stop laughing.

Someone tell The Persuasions about this.    They've done just about every other genre.   Also, Tibetan throat singers can be pretty metal.

(pulls out my new wireless earbuds at work)

Nice.  Not entirely a capella, with the drummer and a guitar solo, but it sounded great.

Plus Tarja, the late André Matos, and the singer from Grave Digger.

Please point me to a single second of that clip that is a cappella. Maybe the first few seconds?

Tarja Turunen
André Matos
(ex-Angra)
Stimmgewalt (HardChor aus Berlin)

Why would they need to reference Angra but not Nightwish?  Are there actually people who know who Tarja is but not Andre Matos?

Tarja has released several solo albums.  If Andre did, I did not hear about it.

Tyr's not quite my style, but they killed it opening for Demons & Wizards last year.  They bring the kind of energy you want for an opener.  Lizzy Borden as the second band was way out of place.

/Battle Beast was also a killer opener for Kamelot last year.  Noora is a great frontwoman

He released a number of "solo" albums after he left Angra(with the Mariutti bros).  I'm not sure if they were better than Tarja's, but Tarja set a low bar, unfortunately.  Either way, it's customary to list their most popular band at least if you're going to give a resume, and Tarja's solo work definitely isn't that.  More to the point, if Tarja doesn't need an introduction it's not like Andre Matos does.  Just nitpicking, really.

I caught that last October here.. though I was so low on sleep at the time, I accidentally showed up exactly 1 hour late for the show.. but Battle Beast was still playing when I got there.

Always liked Demons & Wizards.

GodComplex: Gloryhammer

Gloryhammer went so deep in their satire that they came out the other side and made some of the best EUPM in the last few years. Not that that's saying much, but hey.

I first heard The Persuasions doing a Grateful Dead cover, which worked really well.
I'm not a metal-head, but got sucked down the YouTube metal rabbit hole for a day or two by Unleash The Archers doing a cover of Stan Rogers's classic Canadian folk anthem "Northwest Passage" (which I'd first heard in the closing-episode scene in the TV show "Due South", a show that always had lots of Canadian-content music.) Youtube video of Northwest Passage

"The Hu!" are a Mongolian throat-singer band, also pretty metal.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRD3vrSLPaw
