Apparently she decided to test the crash safety features. Luckily for her, they passed.

I like cars that don't crash at high speed.

My family has a specific dealer where we can test drive rides while he does the paperwork. We get back, no question about financing, just need the title guy to process things. Last time I gummed him up asking for locking lugnuts. I think they had a bet about how quickly they could close a deal. I just told him "Jawas could have the wheels off in five minutes".

There's a King of the Hill episode with this same plot.

They need to put her name out there for proper shaming...she must be wealthy and/or a person of power.  If that were you or I, our name and picture would be in the article.

Now what? The dealer's insurance pays off the car and sues her?

We want to hear the rest of the story. Hopefully there will be a follow up.

Test drove a Golf earlier this year, but the COVID restrictions were hitting the dealership hard. Had a lovely chat with the finance guy who knew bugger-all about the cars. When we finally got to see a salseman, he let my wife drive it, but I couldn't come because the sales guy insisted on riding along.
Then we test drove three different Mazda models together, while the sales guy stayed in the showroom and served other customers. Loving the new CX-30.
The message? Definitely respect the COVID restrictions, but don't expect to sell us a car when you won't trust us even when you're holding our license. I note that these cases are so rare that they are apparently newsworthy.

After crashing the car, I've noticed that it now has damage.  Can you show me a car that doesn't crash and get damaged so easily?

"Troopers are warning drivers to always obey posted speed limits and other traffic laws, especially when operating a vehicle you are unfamiliar with."

That second sentence makes no sense, as the first one doesn't allow for any leeway, in that you /always/ must obey speed limits and traffic laws. Always leaves no room for an "especially", always is always.

I went to buy a car (Jeep) with my wife (years ago).

The salesman ACTUALLY showed her the CD system (in the trunk) and where she could store her CDs (I told you this was years ago)
And then, hand to God, showed her the mirror under the sun-visor she could use to apply make up!

Needless to say we left without buy a car.

I assume it's for emphasis, as in "Don't threaten people with a knife, especially when you're in the Vatican" :P

Don't test the capabilities of a car...before knowing your own.

/feel free to change the underlined to suit the situation

Exactly the type of bait and switch tactics that give car salesmen a bad name.

Jesus McSordid: .......don't expect to sell us a car when you won't trust us even when you're holding our license. I note that these cases are so rare that they are apparently newsworthy.

My wife and I shopped for a car last year and both the Mazda and Volkswagen dealers let us take home new cars overnight.     For a car we may not be as serious about buying, I don't mind a quick drive with the sales person.   The majority we've interacted with in the past decade aren't doing the high pressure act.  If they do, then we wouldn't make it to the test drive.  We tell them we don't do business with people using those sales techniques and walk off the lot.

When I bought my new Outlander less than a month back, I got the same because I had no problems with my last one, and I knew it was only a matter of time before something really bad happens to it The old one, I was the first owner, and put 172k on it. My new one is four wheel drive, and if you punch it, you can tell it's all wheel drive

A carfax car

It is now.

csb:

One and only trip to CarMax didn't include a test drive because they couldn't find the keys and the hood wouldn't open. They emailed me that the car wasn't "Max-worthy," and then its VIN popped up in my search at the CarMax across town.
