Every time I gave terrestrial music radio a chance to win me back, they blow it. I had the radio on in the car today and heard the end of "Hard to Handle" by the Black Crowes. I changed the station just in time to hear the beginning of "Hard to Handle" by the Black Crowes. Because fark you, we own all the stations, that's why.

I try to like TuneIn but the UI on their app is absolute garbage.

Another example of really old people trying to run futuristic technology, to predictable results.

As in we don't understand it, do instead of letting someone who does run the show, we're just gonna ban it completely so you have to do things our way like we did when technology was 5 decades older, until we die.

Because.

Here' an additional reminder that Phil Collin's classic "In The Air Tonight" reentered the Billboard charts 40 years after its initial release thanks to a couple of kids freaking out about it in a viral video on youtube.

Correct. That's why the marketplace is the best tool we have to evaluate the aesthetic quality of music.

Although "Airheads" wouldn't happen in a world with a widespread internet and social media, the executives from the film still act the same way today.

I use terrestrial radio for NPR driving to and from work. 20 min each way and I get a decent heads up.

So, I'm not super tech savvy, but how hard would it be to make a disc player (whatever format) that can read all of the regions. It's a software issue as far as I can tell.

VLC will read it without an issue. I've also taken older DVD players and looked up how to remove the DVD Region lock and it wasn't too difficult.

DVD players that can play any region have been around a while. I think they gave up on the refions when they moved onto Bluray, but I may be mistaken.

The ONLY reason I listen to TuneIn is for foreign radio stations.

Great for language learning on long drives. And for news from home.

Its not us oldsters. Its the greedy robber barons at the top of those companies trying to prevent anyone else from making a dime, including the artists.
