Yeah.  Then she votes how Trump and McConnell tell her to.  Every.  Single.  Time.

"These sentences in quotation marks represent a position that someone might adopt, regarding a hypothetical government."

2020-09-19 4:35:33 PM
"...should be made by the President who is elected on November 3rd."

There's her 'out.' We won't know who was elected, on November 3rd.

2020-09-19 5:00:10 PM
Yeah, once she gets re-elected she can do whatever she wants. Do not trust.

2020-09-19 5:01:59 PM
If the President elected on Nov. 3 should choose the next nominee, why waste time looking at Trump's choice?  Use that Senate time to do something useful, like consider some of the 500 bills stacked on McConnell's desk.

2020-09-19 6:40:49 PM
I'm really on the fence about throwing these people over the fence.

2020-09-19 6:42:13 PM
LOL. So she'd vote yes.

2020-09-19 7:08:22 PM
Look at it this way: if your name is Charlie Brown, that's Lucy Van Pelt.

2020-09-19 8:09:15 PM
"Should."

Superjoe: Yeah, once she gets re-elected she can do whatever she wants. Do not trust.

Exactly. In six years, this vote won't matter to her status. And if she's not re-elected, she's the kind of person to burn the place down on her way out. She might keep her word to vote against any nominee until after the election, but win or lose, she'll vote for a Trump nominee on the day after.

2020-09-19 8:11:16 PM
Notice she doesn't say "I will not vote for the nominee before 11/3?"

2020-09-19 8:11:56 PM
She might even vote no. She and two others can do so.

I don't know whether to kiss you for that.

Or not.

Like maybe that Covid aid bill.

She will vote for whomever Trump nominates.

Susan!  This is a pretty radical make over to have had done, especially with social distancing requirements!  Good deal ditching that hobbit look.

Let's stop pretending that the words coming out of her pie hole matter. We know who she is and what she will do.

Sure, catch and release.  But McConnell isn't going to let her vote her (very theoretical) conscience.  It's a "we own you, forever" dominance thing.

...but when Mitch McConnell tells me to vote for it, I'll put on my concerned furrows and vote the way he tells me to.

Susan is probably already hand wringing about which logical loophole she's going to jump through when she votes to confirm whatever nominee they push through at the speed of sound.

Also, gives me a reason to post one of my favorite C&H strips.

He cares about maintaining power, not flexing it. If letting three senators vote no is better for those senators' election chances, he's fine with it. As long as it isn't four.

2020-09-19 8:25:52 PM
Do not trust her. She want to wait until after the election, because voting for Trump's nominee heightens democratic enthusiasm for her opponent, and voting against it will kill her with Republicans. She will gladly vote for it during the lame duck period when none of this matters.

The DNC emails weren't the only ones hacked. Russia also got the RNC, and wisely used that for blackmail.

Here she is confronting a typical Maine resident.

This is the sound of someone who hopes the vote is in December.

2020-09-19 8:33:07 PM
Will she just stroke out already.

You aren't wrong, but we can be more general.

If they put Sean Hannity up there she'd confirm him next week.  Fraud.

I'm thinking more along the lines of something involving a wall for these people.

If she were to go back on her word, with her feet set this much, she would would be a laughing stock and have lost any dignity she ever enjoyed in life.

2020-09-19 8:39:43 PM
She says all the "correct" things.  Too bad her actions rarely match her words.  Ya know what Susan?  Actions count more than words (cue the Nunes pics).  So until you actually match your words with the actions, you're just a lying PoS trying to keep your cushy job.

2020-09-19 8:40:02 PM
B-b-but COVID-19 is running rampant and we simply cannot let such a vital branch of government be depleted at a time of such great peril and that is why the senate should immediately vote to confirm the president's nominee without so much as a single hearing.

/give 'em a day or two and they will come up with even better spin than that

2020-09-19 8:40:33 PM
That way they can hold the vote in the lame duck session and no one will remember by 2022.
Because there will be 10 more years of bs packed into 2 years that they can hide behind.

Just three more no votes!

You got Romney, probably. Murkowski maybe, let's pretend she's a no too.

Then...there's...wait no. There isn't even a possible 4th, assuming the two definite maybes even vote no. So there isn't anything they can do, no matter what they say to drum up support for the election, Democrats are powerless to stop another nominee vote.

2020-09-19 8:41:37 PM
I think she might actually keep her word on this.

2020-09-19 8:42:11 PM
She may have to commune with the Founding Fathers to find an answer.  Ten thousand Ben Franklins can begin to sway her I'm sure.

Every freakn time. But usually it's in answer to questions she can't avoid answering. This time she advanced a statement before being put into a position to have to respond, usually a lie.

Idk, we'll see. Hope springs eter.......................................ehh, fvk that shyt.

Superjoe: Yeah, once she gets re-elected she can do whatever she wants. Do not trust.

I think that's why she's saying what she is. She is desperate to keep hold to her seat so she's trying to throw the left wingers and indies in her state a bone. We'll see if it works. She definitely has her fingers crossed. For a lot of reasons.

Actually that sounds like a pretty definitive answer that she won't do it.

Whether or not to believe she'll hold to that is another question, but this isn't her typical waffling non-answer.

IF he's a man of his word

IF

Grassley SHOULD vote no. That's 4.

IF the vote is after November 3rd and IF Kelly wins AZ.

That's one less republican vote.

The DNC emails weren't the only ones hacked. Russia also got the RNC, and wisely used that for blackmail.

Three Republican senators - Graham, Corker and Flake - used the same email service which was verified as being hacked by the GRU in 2016.

Remarkably shortly thereafter, two of them abruptly pulled the ejection lever on their senate seats without giving any real explanation. And one went into a single private meeting with Benedict Donald as a known critic of the Traitor, and came out the most open and utterly shameless mushroomsucker in the Senate.

What in the -hell- was in those emails?

/Bear in mind, the GOP has been a criminal organization since the Bush years, so...

Benevolent Misanthrope: Yeah - she and Murkowski will be hauled into McConnell's office and will fall right in line.

She'll be very concerned about it though.

Still, her state is a potential flip state, partially because she ran as bipartisan and, well, isn't. If she votes in line, she'll likely lose more voters, but is she doesn't hold with her party she might lose voters.

So yeah flip the Senate and let them impeach the motherfarker and everyone involved in all of the grift including Pence and hello President Pelosi.
