I got the "Please let us track you so we can sell your information" screen. Pass.

"Digital Spy" indeed.

Especially since the answer was "maybe" and "actress hopes so" and "Netflix hasn't commented, so we know f*ck all."

I am sure a season 3 will happen.  The show is too good to not get another season.  I would not bank on a season 4.  Netflix is like Valve.  They cannot count to 3 err 4.

Season 2 was just alright, but the cliffhanger was excellent.

about my sentiments. I might have been on the lower end of the spectrum though for Season 2 being less than good. I even found myself wanting to just forward through some stuff. It felt disjointed at times and I never really understood the motivation of why they wanted to save JFK so badly.

Yeah, tell that to Drew Barrymore and Timothy Oliphant and ask them about season four of Santa Clarita Diet.  It does not matter how well liked a show is, it is all about money.  Especially with the debacle over the movie Cuties losing Netflix subscriber money, they will be looking at ways to minimize the loss.  Instead of better decision making on what they promote by their company, they usually go the easier route of just canceling shows not caring if they get a finish or not.

If not, I hope Ellen Page can find another vehicle for her to force-feed us unnecessary lesbian sub-plots.

I've no problem with representation.  I have a problem with bad writing.  If it doesn't advance the plot, cut it or make it advance the plot.

I don't think that plot line was a Red Herring. Time will tell.

The biggest problem will be if they wait too long the kid who plays Number 5 will age out of the role.

I tried watching Umbrella Academy. It felt like "what if Wes Anderson made the X-Men, but didn't have his talent or cast?"

I enjoyed season one a lot.  The world building, the settings, learning about the characters, Hazel and Cha Cha!

Season two... meh.  I kind of wanted it to just skip to the ending, but not really, as there's a built in mechanic to reset the show to be able to save the world again and again for as many time periods and settings as necessary, as long as there's money to be made.  At some point it becomes retro Archer on goofball island, and the original vibe is long gone.

I uh..kind of like watching those sub plots...just like blue is the warmest color is one of my favorite 15 minute movies.

I'd take more seasons of Deadly Class (granted it was on Sy-Fy) and Titans (on DC) over more of the Umbrella Academy.

It was really only Diego who was driven to save JFK. The rest just went along with it because sure, why not, it's the good thing to do and they couldn't convince Diego otherwise and just got dragged along with him to make sure he didn't do anything to make things worse. It also was intertwined with learning about their father.

I only recently checked the show out, and I quite enjoyed s2.

Well, there is a third story arc in the comics, but it's going to be pretty hard to shoehorn it in with the season 2 cliffhanger.

Having said that, it's not like they took much of the story from the comics for the first two seasons, so I'm sure they'll do it anyway.

Farking around with Netflix, I doubt it

I'm not a comic guy, so I personally think it is often better when writers have the freedom to make changes for different media.

What's neat is the cliffhanger opens up another series of background scenes, similar to first season's introductions.

I liked Season 1.  I loved Season 2.  Outside of Ellen Page, the cast is fantastic and really growing together.  I hope they do get a Season 3, because they are just starting to groove and frankly, I  need at least another season of Ritu Arya.

/ Aidan Gallagher as #5 is fantastic.

They didn't care about JFK. Diego and his f*cking hero complex was fixated on JFK, even though that would have altered the timeline. Sort of why Lila was watching him.

JFK is a pretty big red herring in the second season, despite being somehwat central to it.

Is page a bad actress or is she the exact mess the show wants her to be?

He can just age quickly because of time travel.  He seems to be the only one that can age without problems in story.

She's been coasting on variations of her Juno character (which I suspect is just Ellen Page) for all of her career. I guess it works for a narrow range of work. No, it doesn't work on Umbrella Academy, to the point of bringing the whole thing down.

Well it's Netflix, so we'll get at least one more season and then they'll cancel on a cliffhanger.

And if season 3 doesn't happen that frees him up to play Robin in the next Batman movie.

The show suffers from the same thing that got me to stop watching Stranger Things. Over and over main characters choose the stupidest actions possible and there's never any long term detriment from it. Diego is just the worst of them.

Was Natasha gay in the comic?

To me the biggest issue is, when they're finally able to shoot the next season, will they be able to assemble the cast again?

Are the comics worth reading?

Oh yeah. Weirder, faster paced, totally over the top, and much more tightly plotted. I got into them because I was a huge fan of the artist Gabriel Ba, from his work on Matt Fraction's Casanova. Was not expecting the story to be as good as it was.

I kind of enjoyed the first 2 seasons, but knowing how much they changed from the comics really took a lot away from the series. They had some great source material to work with and decided to pad the plot with a bunch of unnecessary drama and backstory. And, damn, they blew it with Hazel and Cha-Cha.

Check it out.

Yep. Three to four seasons is Netflix's goal. That is about how long it generates buzz and attracts new people as well as how long before costs start increasing substantially.

And for their popular shows they generally provide good warning going into their last season (like Sabrina has been).

But we don't get to see Netflix's numbers and if season two never generated subscriptions (and I can't see it being continued as a prestige piece) it may well be gone.

Sure Netflix, give money to washed up politicians, but don't renew the few good shows you have...

The Kid is better at playing an asshole than just about any actor I've ever seen.

/from what I've read he's not far off in real life
