Champion of the Sun: You think your guys' never ending excuses and cowardice

"You guys"

..so whats that make you?
Another lost conservative without a party?
Lets talk about who the cowards are in this scenario.

The ones sticking to their principles and ideals and not letting it turn us into 'them' or the idiots who allowed their party to be totally corrupted and now, instead of fixing it, they run away and complain that their alternative isn't authoritarian enough.

LOL you guys are farking pathetic.

This is no ones fault but GoP and the low-iq assholes that hump guns that love them.

kindms: im sure glad rbg got to work until she was 87 and not retiring when she was 82

for all the out pouring of affection a cancer survivor gambled she was either gonna live to be 88 or clinton was going to win. her personal reasons for staying on the court have handed it to republican rule for the next 40 year s at least

She (probably correctly) judged that nobody could do what she did as well as she could.

I'm not going to call that arrogant, but it did reflect a level of self-focus that ends with everything she did going into the ash heap of history because she wouldn't pass the torch.

Hey there 2016 non-voters and third-party voters. How are you doing? Listen, remember when we all told you that it matters who was President because that's who picks the judges? Remember that? Remember when we told you that yes, there is a difference between the two parties due to the judges who are chosen, and that the choice of judges will have an impact for decades to come?

Remember that? Remember how that wasn't enough for you to not make that stupid decision you made to vote third party or sit out the election? Remember how your actions in those swing states meant Trump was elected and got to pick those judges?

Yeah, we are all now reaping what you morans have sewn. You could have stopped this madness but you chose not to. You had one job and failed so spectacularly that this nation may not survive. (You and idiots like you got the ball rolling on that when you failed to vote in 2014 and 2010, but that's another rant.)

So good job. If you hate what's going on and are one of the people who had a chance to stop it but chose not to, this is on you. Feel free to blame yourself and feel bad for the rest of your life. This is as much your legacy as anyone else's.

So if you were hoping that maybe your failure wasn't as bad as we all you you it was, you can stop thinking that. It was. You failed and you failed hard. Hopefully we can start to fix this mess soon, but if it becomes a lot more difficult, look in the mirror to see who to blame.

/"But what about the Trump voters?" you ask.
//They wouldn't have been a factor if you had done your jobs.
///You can start to make up for it this time because now we need to vote because our lives actually depend on it. Thanks to you.

The only person derelict was Obama.  He nominates, senates decides whether to confirm.  It's been like this going on 300 yrs now.

He could've easily nominated somebody with an actual chance of being confirmed.

'History supports Republicans filling the seat.

Doing so would not be in any way inconsistent with Senate Republicans' holding open the seat vacated by Justice Antonin Scalia in 2016. The reason is simple, and was explained by Mitch McConnell at the time. Historically, throughout American history, when their party controls the Senate, presidents get to fill Supreme Court vacancies at any time - even in a presidential election year, even in a lame-duck session after the election, even after defeat. Historically, when the opposite party controls the Senate, the Senate gets to block Supreme Court nominees sent up in a presidential election year, and hold the seat open for the winner. Both of those precedents are settled by experience as old as the republic.

Republicans should not create a brand-new precedent to deviate from them.'

Uncle Eazy: They would be smart to wait until after the election. There may be a few R senators that would be hesitant to rubber stamp some Trump lunatic with an election in six weeks.

After the election it won't matter. Either they won and are in for another six years, or they lost and they're out and they'll be happy to burn the place down on the way out.

They need the fix in NOW, ahead of Trump's declaration of winning the election for the natural escalation to the Supreme court if contested.

Nothing that McConnell said. All he said was that he wouldn't let Obama confirm anyone because he was a "lame duck" President. So it doesn't matter who Obama nominated.

I tweeted at her, and so have others, already this morning that if she doesn't hammer Ernst on her fundraising email that went out 10 minutes after RBG's death was announced, I'd re-evaluate my vote for her.

I don't want a Senator who is going to stand by idly and watch this shiat happen without speaking up.

So you're saying you really would endanger the chance of a Democratic majority in the senate, or do you just hope she believes you would?

I'd leave it up to everyone else to figure that out.

If Greenfield doesn't stand up for what's right, why should I vote for her? I wouldn't feel like she could be considered a solid vote for doing the right thing.

Yeah that wasn't a good idea. One of many unforced errors of the 2016 election, avoiding any of which would have changed the result.

She'll never do it, but that would be awesome!

She'd never do it because it wouldn't accomplish shiat. Good lord people. This is a Nancy Pelosi free conflict. If you need to use a bogeyman Democrat to signal to everyone that the do-nothing democrats are the real problem here, at least use Chuck Schumer. What in the world makes you think McConnell would even acknowledge anything going on in the house?

Actually that sort of parliamentary trickery could work. The objective wouldn't be to actually get someone removed, it would be to force the Senate to waste time on it.

Did the first impeachment proceedings stop the senate from seating judges? I was under the impression that nothing really has this whole time excepting the brief holds individual republicans have put on the process. Is there an actual rule or law that halts traffic through the senate while an impeachment is happening?

Permanently? No, and no one said it did. For a small amount of time? Indeed yes.

Don't be. Your first priority is to live your own life, take care of yourself, and thus maintain your potential capacity to help others. Make the right moral choices on a daily basis, participate in your society, send money, vote.
It may be that America made a mistake back in 2016 that it won't recover from without a hefty and painful price to be paid.
Life is like that sometimes - you f**k up, and it costs you, and all you can do is pay.
Hopefully, America will learn something.
Be be brave, be of good cheer, and purchase lots of guns and ammo.
Gardy loo!!

I'm permanently disabled. My son is an adult with autism and unable to work full time. Even if he could, he's just been put on a "No work leave" status because of covid19 (he works for a school district).

All we can do is vote. I tried volunteer work when I first became disabled, as well as going back to school, as things to fill my time and learn even more about helping my son (I was going for a degree as a direct support professional) and sadly soon found out that my disability renders me unreliable because it's completely unpredictable. I can be ok today and wake up tomorrow unable to walk. I can become bedridden for weeks at a time if I twist in a poor way from taking a shower.

I'm useless except in keeping up with paperwork for my son and I. I am great at providing emotional support for others, but that's usually all I can do.

We vote in every election. But beyond that, we are unable to help. 😪

I was so worried that the country was farked that I retired early on Jan 20, 2017. A big part of that was that I didn't want to have security clearances at the same time as Trump. I thought there would be purges, fascism, violence in the streets, and blatant criminality protected by McConnell.

People were surprised, because I was entering the cruising altitude part of my career: big salary, but useful for wisdom and mentoring as opposed to twelve hour days in the labs. I tried to remind them that my well-known super power at work was spotting big problems far in advance of others and trying to mitigate them, but they were confused about why I was leaving so much money on the table.

I sure hope some of them eventually got it, as this has been a very pleasant 3.5 years (except for the doom scrolling).

We always knew this is what Mitch was going to do. He's not the hypocrite though. It's the American media, including significant time by CNN talking heads, selling it to Americans so they would just accept it as normal and reasonable.

Are they going to admit they were duped? Or that they knew this all along and just spaced out telling the full story? The hypocrisy comes from mainstream media. Long ago we should have stopped trusting them to properly explore serious, contentious issues of importance.

Media sells the agenda of the power brokers. They sold McConnell's argument in 2016 as plausible, and Schumer rolling over for it as normal and reasonable.

And of course more than 1/2 the content is selling ads that brainwash people into being good little serfs / consumers.

Early in-person voting has already begun in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, South Dakota, Virginia, Wyoming, Michigan, New Jersey, and Vermont, and will begin in Illinois next week

keldaria: Prediction: McConnell won't have the votes to confirm a nominee because vulnerable Republicans will reject the idea of hitting the blue voter hornets nest with a stick because they are already swarming enough as it is. That said, on November 4th after it doesn't matter, those votes will magically materialize regardless of the outcome because the senators will have either lost and go into lame duck mode or they will have won and go into "this is the will of the people" mode.

Same prediction I'm making.

2020-09-19 10:02:05 AM
So... I wonder how possible it is for Trump to dangle the nominee and hearing processes as bait to secure a vote for him, lining it up as close to November 3rd as possible. Ideally having the process start  on November 4th no matter what.

This way he gets the bait vote and then also installs the Justice in time to vote on a contested election as it escalates to the highest court.

Yeah I know right.. as if a court that legalizes health care, and equality among sexes and races, and creates a fair and just society for people is exactly the same as some authoritarian propaganda backed puppet president is trying to stack the courts to under the last 100 years of progress in the USA.

This isn't the Watergate era.  The guys breaking the rules won't just take their licks when busted.

The left does seem to be playing by the old rules and hoping something will happen.  People aren't outraged by what the right is doing.  They're ok with it.  It's working and winning in their eyes.

I'm not sure what the next move should be.   And I hate the thought of the kind of change the Dems will have to demonstrate to prevail, but the old ways aren't cutting it any more.   It's adapt or die time, or at least adapt or let the right take us back to pre 1970 USA time.

"authoritarianism as a response to social justice"  is going to sting really really bad when it's the explainer on your grand-kids social studies video on 2020 and the fall of the USA.

Uranus: smileyphase: and consider relationships transactional.

Much like Donnie and women?

Much like Donnie and everything. Transactional and zero sum. I've got mine, Fark you. Benefits for me and not for thee.

Champion of the Sun: Mugato: Champion of the Sun: Mugato: Champion of the Sun: Losers cry and excuse

Like making an excuse that you weren't wrong because you didn't like my source that showed you were wrong?

LOL, Mr. Democrat hectoring over the rules (from quora, lol) instead of acting.

Joe Biden can piss his pants on tv. It's legal. But it wouldn't be a good strategy. Just like it wouldn't be a good strategy for the 23 gop senators up for election to have to push through another kavanaugh.

But keep debating the rules. Write a paper. Keep making excuses. Anything but take divisive action

You said that a President can't nominate a judge while being impeached. I showed you were wrong. And you're having a hissy fit. That's all.

Ok, strategically improbable not impossible.

Congrats, you kinda won a pedantic debate, kinda?

Your excuse is solidified.  Good job everyone, we got our excuse.  Our job as democrats is done.

Look, we're basically on the same side here. I just don't think another impeachment would do anything and might actually get Trump more votes because he'll play this as being constantly persecuted but constantly prevailing.
