it already had 2 series.  they tried a kickstarter for a 3rd, but it didn't work out

It seems to be doing better than I expected, given it appears that Ridley Scott was given a free run to do what he wanted and you know that's going to be all kinds of "odd".

So is Tally alive then? Or is that something else?

I've only seen the first four episodes, and I like it well enough so far. But I was kinda hoping that it would be a self-contained season, in that it comprised the entire series. I have more faith in TV being quality when it knows its story from beginning to end going in. Which isn't to say that more seasons will automatically make a thing suck, just that the chances for it dragging and/or slipping increase greatly.

In this case in particular, they can only do the Mother thing so long before it gets silly.

I'm four episodes in and I'm thinking of breaking up with it. It's looks great, but it's pretty hackneyed.

It was the strangest adaptation of The Jungle Book I have ever seen.

Wait until someone gets crushed by a rolling spaceship. Then you'll want reverse, too.

There's a lot to like, but the longer it goes on, the more ridiculous it's getting. Now I'm just waiting for Tim Curry to show up calling the girls "Poppet".

That is good to know. Eps 1&2 were incredible but the pacing has been a bit off since then. Finished 6 last night (took a break for The Boys tonight) and 7 is on for dinner tomorrow. All that said, it's been a great story and glad there is more coming.

I've been watching it, but I haven't decided if I like it or not yet. It's very dull, but there's potentially interesting stuff happening under the surface. Maybe. I don't know, because the show hasn't really told me anything yet, really. Like, it's answered questions I didn't have (Mother's creator), but answered none of the questions I've had since episode 1.

I tend to nod off when it's on, no matter what time of day I'm watching it, but I still kinda hope that one of my questions gets answered.

It's flagship TV. It's not supposed to answer questions. It's supposed to give you violence, nudity when the violence gets boring, and to get you to subscribe to another streaming service.

I think they're going to have to write each season with an ending that allows for a time lapse in the off-season.  Just in case of ridiculous growth spurts, or even to account for predictable growth spurts.

/not caught up on all episodes yet

Glad that it's being continued...but pretty sure it's been around longer than two seasons...

I got so dang pissed in episode 3 (the last one I've seen) when the kids escaped. They lock Father in that room for like 2.5 minutes and somehow manage to travel about 4 miles out of his sight.

I'll probably watch episode 4 but the show is on strike two and a half for me.

I'm developing what may be an unhealthy crush on "Sue." I like that shaved sides/Kentucky Waterfall thing, whatever it is. She be cute, and every now and then her Irish warble sneaks through.

Loved the first few episodes.. The two released this week sure were farking weird though.

*Spoilers* It's great if you regard it as a fantasy-comedy instead of Sci-Fi. The first couple of episodes were good despite some ridiculous bits (android howling like a wolf when mourning ? yeah I get the 'raised by wolves' but come on, starting a viable human colony from a tiny ship with 5 people ?, etc) but then it spirals into more ridiculous with religious allegory as subtle as Ridley Scott banging your head with a bible. Giving the Mother android God-like powers (killing with her voice, Word of God, flying in a crucified pose, etc), Android dreaming of farking her creator, etc.

TappingTheVein: starting a viable human colony from a tiny ship with 5 people ?, etc

There were supposed to be a dozen embryos, which is still an extremely small gene pool, but flirts with being viable. If the embryos were pre-screened for recessives, you could probably have enough genetic diversity with a smaller number. The fact that the androids can't adapt when the situation changes doesn't bother me- they're androids.

SPOILERS

The fact that nobody thought about the fact that the food was radioactive, however, that's some dumb shiat.

At this point I don't believe they were ever meant to be a colony. Mother isn't capable of challenging her faith in her creator, so she won't recognise any falsehoods she may have been programmed with.

Well, it certainly wasn't a good plan, if that was the actual plan. And clearly, Campion is part of whatever the actual plan is.

It's a weird show, because a lot of things happen, but I can't shake the sense that it's not going anywhere.

IIRC there were more embryos but the kid with the jacked up english accent (he's Australian and he's a bit young to keep that corralled) cracked them open to taste the sweet goo inside, found out it was soylent green.

To create a genetically stable colony you need around 100 healthy people (link) but that's fine, it's nitpicking.

Exactly. Also how they made the religious faction clothes resemble crusader knights (I get it) down to the silly shields but couldn't give them advanced sonic weapons or armor like the ones installed on the android they created.

That doesn't bother me as much. Quite clearly, it's an area denial weapon in addition to being targeted, but these effects don't seem to be excludable: if you try and blow up a single target, everyone nearby still gets the area denial effects, which means it's not practical for humans to wield. Also, we don't know that they didn't have them- we just know that they don't have any now, which could easily be a side effect of slamming their ship into a mountain.

We also don't know that it's sonic, as the weird mirror thing also did stuff to interact with the effects, but regardless, I'm fine with that being an androids-only device, much like flying and perfectly bulletproof armor.

Seems like Campion Sturges was working out of desperation.  I'm willing to write off any less than perfect colony beginnings to that

First two episodes were great, 3 and 4 sucked because the story went on by-the-numbers exposition autopilot while we waited for the inevitable showdown, but it seems to have picked up again.
