I was basically farking non-stop. I was young, had the muscles/skinny skateboard guy thing going on, long hair, I was singing in a band, I can string coherent sentences together, and I was in Florida - a target rich environment. I'm surprised I didn't develop dick callouses.

I'm good with my choice.

By age 19 I could solidly handle my own stick, too.  She's a show-off.

Well, unlike this chick, I had figured out how to spell my name right.

How did she struggle with such adversity...

I moved out of my parent's house and never moved back in.

I also didn't win the family lottery by being born on third base.  But, gratz, I suppose.

Not sure if you and two diplomas on the sofa really counts as a threesome.

At 19 I was in flight school in a room full of young men whose fathers were all airline pilots. I came from a much less-distinguished background.

That was my first exposure to the notion that the whole "land of opportunity for all" thing was a crock of shiat.

/still paying off the student loans
//My pilot's license is a cool party trick, otherwise useless.

Have you considered the combination of 'flying low' and 'bales of cocaine?'

Well, I hate to sound like a broken record, but it turns out you need to know somebody to get your foot in that door, too. FML.

That's about as much as Amelia Airhart did

By 19, my mistakes made international news twice.  No, wait, that's probably not the thing to focus on.

I had built a spaceship simulator in my attic and my own radio transmitter so I could listen to my music on a radio while riding my bike around town (this was pre-walkman days). I also made a stun gun that was confiscated by my teacher. I got it back at the end of class. Times have changed......

Somehow, I imagine it finds her nonetheless.

This is legitimately impressive. While she's certainly privileged, she's doing a hell of a lot more with it than most in her situation and at her age.

I had accomplished everything I had needed to by 19.  Everything else was and is downhill since then.  Except the sex, that got better, until it got worse.

Aside from seeing how drunk off my ass I could get while living in Bumfark Northern Wisconsin?

That's what i don't like about these stories.  Teens accomplish a lot, but the really impressive stories get swept under the rug for ones like this that amount to "Rich kid born close enough to interesting adults to have opportunities few have by age X."

Far more impressive to me when a slacker actually studies and starts getting good marks in his or her classes. But it's not impressive.

*interesting.

It IS impressive, but "kid studies harder" isn't really a newsworthy article outside of their own life.

A buddy of mine is currently taking flying lessons from an amazing 21 year old woman.  She is certified to teach in just about any private aircraft you can imagine.
