He was just tired of going so deep into the playoffs and chose the only team he knew could never even make it to the conference finals.  He really takes his load management seriously.

You would be on the path to your second ring if you stuck with Toronto, pal. You were the chosen one. This city would have done anything for you.

All Toronto needed was Boston to have an unfortunate run of injuries, jimmy butler get abducted by huey, dewey, and louie, then have Labron and the eyebrow end up in ICU with COVID.  Then the title would have been all theirs.

I think the Clippers were just sick of being in the bubble anymore and wanted out.

Third.

And if his uncle hadn't told him that great marketing and endorsement opportunities awaited, he'd still be in silver and black in San Antonio.

The Magic City wings are really that good, apparently.

Subby, don't be so hard on Kawhi.
Talking requires social skills.

I know the fit makes sense, but people also gotta understand the business side to it all.  Literally the luxury tax situation of it all.  By bringing Kawhi and Danny Green back for another run, your looking at something like an extra $100 million in luxury tax payments to avoid the whole superteam thing with LA and such.

So it would be the most expensive title defense ever, all to have it come with an asterisk because covid anyways, and if there were any issues, there's literally no budget left, if they didn't have to get rid of someone important to cut the costs.

I mean the story would have been nice and all, and that's before getting into bringing someone like PG on board.  This is his first team building experience and clearly the Clippers spoiled KL and PG too much which affected team chemistry.

The Raptors literally have to sell these decisions to a corporate board, not even a single owner, so while it was nice they were willing to fund a championship run, really math matters.

But that's the Clippers owners also trying to buy their way to a ring, the Raptors spent years developing everything from the lowest role player to the culture of their identity, to the way Masai has relations with players in Africa, and it translates to good team defense even with a 5"11 SG that becomes a liability.

And really the whole rule that makes the rerun expensive is what stops the Warriors from doing the same thing.

Not to mention, isn't this balance great?  Or are superteams what everyone really wants so they can hate on it.

So much fail in this..

Raptors had the go-ahead from ownership to sign Kawhi. DG indicated he might take less money to run it back and if not, he was replaceable.

If he wanted to stay it would have happened but he didn't even invite them into the discussion before he made up his mind, which is his right. But don't ever speak again about how important winning is.

It's the second-fast growing city in the country, so apparently a lot of them...

To be fair, San Antonio is a shiathole. It has perhaps the worst drug trafficking problem in the country due to the proximity to Mexico, combined with the fact that two major freeways intersect there. I-35 to the north & south; I-10 to the east & west.

Once you've seen the Riverwalk & the Alamo, congratulations. There's literally nothing else there besides drugs & freeways. It's a less charming version of Albuquerque.

Nah, clippers got him, then okc got him, then Zaza got him. The lost that series Then ankle rehab then the quad load management then raptors

His only chance to for a second spurs ring would have been to win the first one instead of missing free throws, also Ray Allen missing
