The most entertaining Superman show I've seen is The Boys.

Why not, Cavil isnt the problem

I'd like to see him play Superman, not the grumpy, joyless "S-is-for-shiatbrick" character in the recent movies.

He's an adequate Superman.  I don't know if any of the Justice League hero casting is bad except maybe Aqua Man, and that's more about the general concept of that character.

/The bad guys and the bad writing and bad CGI...

A throwaway line about how being resurrected gave him a new appreciation for how wonderful life is, and get him out of this DARKNESS!  ONE PARENT!  Zack Snyder horseshiat and I'd be happy.

Maybe with Whedon out he can have some actual adult dialogue instead of being a twerp.

When you don't realize as an actor why your best role is a person incapable of emotions.

If I were him then I, too, would want to get the Snyder stink off of me-as-Superman, and play Superman as Superman, to kind of correct the record

Consider the source. Express has some of the biggest mistruths, false claims, and falsehoods I've ever seen.

Subby here. And I really did consider adding the dollar signs to the headline. But the articles I've read about this seem to imply that Cavill's primary motivation isn't money; that he came up with the idea and made the pitch for the three movies himself. Granted I'm not a fan of the man; I don't dislike him, I'm just not into him. So I could be wrong about the money motive. For all I know he could be a ruthless greedy SOB, but the article implies otherwise.

Please let it be All-Star Superman in three parts.

That's what I said. A wide eyed weed addict, ready to blow a guy for his next fix, ganja needle hanging out of his arm.

I have been pretty much indifferent as well, but I thought he was very good in M:I Fallout.  Just exactly the right amount of buying into the absurdity.

Hope he's in the next one, bit of a cliffhanger there at the end

Forget Superman - he was much better as Napoleon Solo. Cavill plays "smug" much better than he can do "earnest".

Why wouldn't he? It's a paycheck plus when is he going to get another chance at playing Superman if not this? Might as well milk it for all it's worth.

He was excellent in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. too, but barely anybody saw that.

A Superman-like superhero with a mustache ... Omni-Man?

Sounds like he really wants to play Superman and not Snyderman.

Justice League may have been a turd even Joss Whedon couldn't polish, but I'm pretty sure it was Whedon who made the characters likeable enough by the end to actually want to see them again in a better movie. Superman and Cyborg joking around about how much separating the Mother Boxes hurt was a better  scene as a throwaway than any major scene in prior DCEU movies.

I didn't exactly *mind* Man of Steel, but seeing Brandon Routh knock Kingdom Come Supes right out of the park during "Crisis on Infinite Earths" I would've liked to have seen another. Without Snyder involved. Or even physically present within 500 miles of production.

I wasn't suggesting ruthless greed was involved, but you know, a job's a job.

watch Witcher, he can do emotions. Most annoyed.

i am in the minority, i didn't mind his turn on Superman. However, i was blown over by his sheer beauty and presence in the Tudors, so that could be why. Always willing to watch a Cavill project though. And if his sexuality is in question, i don't give two shiats on that point.

He's pretty entertaining on The Witcher as well.

I'm down. The problem was never him in the previous movies and when he was allowed to do so he absolutely managed to briefly display the personality one would expect of Superman.

The biggest problem with the Snyder movies is the grimdark bullshiat. They're really no worse written than the Marvel movies when you get right down to it (Except maybe BvS). Which is why the post-Snyder movies were much better received despite still being mostly everyone from before, except Snyder, working on them. They remembered to have fun with it and so the audience has started to as well.

I've said it before, but I argue that Man of Steel is an absolutely great superhero film. It's just a terrible Superman film. Brighten up the color pallet, let the actors emote as anything other than "dour", and have Superman actively try to save people in-between knocking Zod around Metropolis (maybe make it so part of why he can't end the fight quicker is because he keeps having to break contact to go stop debris from turning pedestrians into paste), but otherwise keep the script you'd have an absolutely fantastic Superman movie.

So yeah, give Cavill another shot.
