Motorcycle rallies are less about actual motorcycles than to be a peacock dressed like a pirate. And I say that as a 25 year veteran rider. And I mean 25 years of riding daily. And most of the people who show to these things tow their bikes. Pfft, pussies. You deserve COVID, but the rest of us don't.

I wouldn't give a shiat, personally, if each & every idiot who decided that they were gonna bump shoulders & get hammered without masks on dropped dead of COVID-19.

The problem is that these assholes will sicken, and possibly kill, otherwise normal, sensible people, because asymptomatic COVID-19 infection is a thing. You don't feel sick - you've just got a bit of a cough and a hangover from your latest biker party, that's all - and suddenly half your mom's neighborhood has it because you gave your family COVID-19, including your mom, who then unknowingly passed it to her mail carrier, who then handed out little bits of your COVID-19 infection to everyone with a friggin' mailbox that day.

Until the novel coronavirus crisis, I really didn't realize just how farking selfish & inconsiderate we were as a culture. We routinely dismiss the concerns of others because "I'VE GOT RIGHTS!" somehow means everyone else's rights aren't as good or important as your own. "MAH FREEDUMBS" apparently means the freedom to ignore the ramifications of your own actions on those around you. I mean, damn.

People just don't care. It's sad that so many will have to die due to ignorance, indifference, and malice. We could get things under control if people could control themselves.

I know some cases, and a death or two (or more?) were linked to Sturgis but the non-peer reviewed bullshiat paper that linked 250,00 cases that the media ran with was thoroughly debunked.

So will this thing be the next Sturgis Covid event?  I kinda hope so, because Sturgis turned out to be not that big a deal Covid-wise.  States opening bars has been far worse.

Mind ya, some people I know went to Sturgis and i think they're heckn idiots for going, I thought the same when they went on a cruise in March, then ignored the stay at home for 14 days part

Their body their choice, if you get it you weren't social distancing or not wearing a mask yourself. When democratic shiatholes start enforcing no gather limits on "protesters" I'll start to give their admonitions and pleas for common sense some credit, but that won't happen. Both groups have a right to freely assemble more power to them.

Dr. DJ Duckhunt: The only move is to isolate yourself from Trumpers.

If only it were that simple.  I'm quite isolated from any Trumpers but I still regularly see behavior that is both likely to increase COVID spread and easy to fix.  I might suspect it was caused by ignorance, but many of these same people were employing better practices back in March/April and have slowly tapered off since.  My best guess is that many have become tired of the extra rules and convinced themselves, or were perhaps misled into thinking, that they no longer matter.

There was a vital lesson that this pandemic could have taught us. We could have seen it as an example of the global interconnectivity of humanity. We might have recognised that the choices made and the actions taken by every one of us as an individual affects the entire world around us. That we are all responsible for the well-being of one another and once we had come to terms with that, that we should be able to count on others.

But we collectively chose not to, because for too many people the small sacrifices being asked to protect the very lives of others was far too much.

Bikefest, however, encourages participants to purchase a "passport," which they can get stamped by visiting the 24 bars and restaurants on the list. Completed passports - there's no limit on how many - can be entered into a drawing for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Just 24 and no limit? pffft, amateurs!

hey, I have an idea.  let's encourage drinking and driving.  an idea that wins the approval of only darwin, the grim reaper, and bar owners.

I'm not too far from the Ozarks - about an hour and a half. Here is how it worked in my 22k person town. My town has some freedom fighters that organized under an entity "resist the mandatory mask" They wear it proudly in their yards and signage on their businesses. Some of their leaders stormed the health dept with their no masked faces to protest a mandate on masks when the health dept was having a meeting on the subject awhile ago. This action abruptly ended the meeting and they had to postpone for a few days before they finally regrouped and issued it. They have their own lawyer and shortly after forming amassed a group of close to 700 individuals. They are suing the health dept over the mask mandate. Them and their children taking turns speaking at the school board meeting before school went back in session was ludicrous.

If I go to Walmart in the morning-noonish most people are wearing masks. Go there in the late afternoon - evening it's still populated but damn near no one has a mask. Our Walmart has just scrubbed the one way floor signs that no one cared about as well. Gas stations and such? hah, you'd be lucky to see a mask in there. Menards requires masks but will let you shop without one, you just need to be wearing it at checkout otherwise they will refuse you. I haven't really been out too much but can't imagine greatness anywhere in town. We did get a new froyo that was supposed to open months ago but they finally decided about a month ago that it was now finally the time - they had a large fanfare daily. New store OMG!! I have to take my whole family there it's so delicious! (here recently it's been pretty empty inside in the evenings when I pass it)

For those that wanted to toss their children into live community testing grounds it went 2 days before they picked up a couple covid cases. Followed by a dotted period since Sept 1 when classes went live. However, every day this week I've received an email from the school informing me that someone in the *insert elementary, middle school, junior high, or HS* community has covid. Because of the mask rule in school others are deemed to be low exposure risks. That individual is now in home quarantine. 2 more weeks and it should get rather comical. Especially since they have no plan for remote learning. For some reason the schools/teachers didn't have time to develop a plan between March -> Sept.

/not proud of mid mo behavior

Almost all the pantomime bikers that I know are rich, fat, republican voters. Missouri absolutely reeks of the conservative breath of knuckle dragging church voters.

The only way this gets better is if don is named Parade Marshall and has to walk at the front of the parade up and down the Ozark Mountains.

In case you hadn't been keeping up with regional news - my neighboring Johnson Co recently decided to let their mandate expire. Still advised but no county enforcement. Fark.  I guess you can't seize a state park.  But you can still throw the operators in prison.  A county near me is about to put the head of a government agency in prison for mishandling toxic waste.  Same difference.
