I'm sure once he's president he can just sign and executive order to make this album happen.

I mean, on the list of crazy sh*t that Kanye's done this year, this is pretty benign.

I'm just hoping for some "leaked" nudes of Kelly Rowland to get the advertising going.

Gospel is intentionally loud with no dynamic range, extremely simple music, and limited harmonies, because it's specifically written to be singable by groups of untrained amateurs.

Seems about right for this band.

// Disclaimer: nothing stops a good group of musicians from making gospel music, I'm just pointing out that the entire point of it is to set the skill floor so low that random assholes like me can participate.

You know, Fark has a lot of words that are banned. It would serve to make this a better site if Kanye were one of them.

Take Six would like a word with you.  ;-)

Granted, it's mostly the soloist.  The background is formulaic.  But when my a cappella group tackled it there were very few of us who could deal with that solo.

In the movie Dreamgirls, both Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose far outsang Beyonce. Beyonce has a very nice voice, but I don't think she's a great vocalist.

Kanye wants to produce a Destiny's Child gospel album.

Well I want a pony.

Guess which one of those is going to happen first.

Can we give Kanye the Sarah Palin treatment already?

Devil is a liar, and a conjurer, too.
Better watch out brother - he'll conjure you.

You'd think the fact the U.S. has 100 times more nuclear weapons would mean they wouldn't have to engage in a pre WWI-style naval buildoff.

He's been trying to get into Beyoncé's pants for nearly 20 years. I wouldn't put too much stock in this album happening.

I mean... a Destiny's Child gospel album would be cool but KW doesn't really need to be involved, minus contributing a coupla songs.

Also, no offense to Michelle or Beyonce but Kelly was always my favorite:

Like my slashy said, nothing stops a skilled musician from making a complex gospel song.  Just like a classical guitarist with a twelve-string could in theory do a version of a '90s three-chord power ballad if they wanted, and it'd probably sound good.

It's a matter of low skill floor, not skill ceiling.  I wasn't taking a shot at gospel in general so much as using the literal, factual nature of the genre to take a jab at how much Destiny's Child sucks.

// I'd actually characterize how accessible and simple Gospel is (again, by design) as its strongest point and get kinda biatchy about solo artists trying to turn it into a vehicle for a single artist or a lounge act or whatever the fark, if you wanted a serious opinion instead of a facetious one.  That always feels like kind of a dick move, at least when they're actual gospel songs rather than "inspired by" gospel.  Sure, steal a collaborative form of music from a farking religious group using it as a means to demonstrate their group's spiritual unity and use it to vaingloriously pimp your personal brand, suuuuper classy.

And he just posted a video of himself peeing on his Grammy. Guess he doesn't want any more.

Is he playing the role of Jesus in this situation? It would make a lot more sense.
