F*ck you, Mike. Not only were you a piss-poor coach in New Orleans, you were an infamous asshole when out and about town. Every bartender, server, and casino dealer audibly groaned when you walked in the room. You even flicked a lit cigar in a dealer's face because you were losing so badly. You flipped off the entire crowd at the Superdome because you were being rightfully booed. Don't ever show your face here again.

There's really a special place in Hell for a guy who actually grew up and made a living side by side in a (mostly nicely) racially integrated system but still has his head in such a dumb space as to be against what's going on in that same system now.

You have to wonder if some of those '85 Bears want to disown their rings and shove them up his ass.  You know, so he can see them.

People say the same thing about Mike Tomlin.  Now that the only remnant of Bill Cowher's team is a rusting before our eyes quarterback that he didn't have available most of last year, I would like to point out that at least Tomlin has never finished below .500 with his team, unlike Ditka.

Buddy Ryan made Ditka a successful coach.  Without him Ditka would only be remembered as a clown.

Mike, you won a single SB on the back of Buddy Ryan's defensive scheme and you spent the next 6 seasons underperforming expectations.  Still, pear shaped men dress up as you at every Bears game.

I swear, SNL invented the entire legacy of Ditka and the Bears organization from their skits.

Not that the 1985 Bears weren't great defensively, but functionally, at least since the Super Bowl era, the Bears are a slightly above mediocre franchise with absolutely crappy quarterback play. The 2000 Baltimore Ravens had a defense, based on points allowed, that was better than the 1985 Bears, yet they don't have anyone talking about "Da Ravens" in Baltimorese.

Oh, no need to add peacefully; it seems to help, but really, we can distill it more powerfully. Republicans believe:

Dissent, in any form, is not permitted.

/if the government is Republican, of course. If the elected leaders are Democrats, then wearing a tan suit merits execution

With the talent on that team, little or no free agency, & no salary cap, he should have won 3 or 4.  It's no wonder Buddy Ryan was carried off the field too after the Superb Owl.

They were still very dominant in the regular season for several seasons after Ryan left. Just had trouble with the future Washington Football Team in the playoffs.

Hell, you can "defraud" people with a real charity.  No need to go through the trouble of creating a fake one.

Charities are like casinos. They don't need to cheat, because they're are going to win in the end no matter what.

Cheating is a result of being too greedy.

White guy feels entitled to reaping the benefits of the sweat of black men, acts shiatty toward them, wants to squash their banding together to speak up, tells them to STFU and GBTW. Not a repeat from the last 400 years.

Doesn't seem as strange with that spin on it.

I would say those 80s Patriots were different, but they were built by Ron Meyer of SMU infamy.  So even with Ray Berry in his place, that taint doesn't wash off easily.

Reminds me of Wrestlemania 3 when the Russian tag team was singing their national anthem. And Jim Duggan comes out and stops them and gets on the mic and says "You can't sing that national anthem here, because this is the land of the free...." and so on. Always struck me as very funny, but in a more sad way as time has gone on

Excactly. By the time Tomlin had already been there for 634 years like all the coaches in Pittsburgh, he was still mostly rocking it. That's a coach. Please, please know I'm not comparing Tomlin to Ditka. I'd never issue an insult like that.

I'm not saying he did nothing to improve that. I'm saying that he's been riding that celebrity for all of his post-football life. Do you see Sean Payton constantly trying to brag though it's been a decade? You see him mad as hell, but he doesn't create some legend of himself like dick-mini does. Now look at the rest of his legacy. Mike is a reptile pushing his throat out so he can buy more time out of it from that legendary team he had. Even on CBS sports he rides it. Just talk about the highlights, asshole.

I don't despise the Bears. I despise him.

Yeah....they really weren't. He inherited Buddy Ryan (the players went to Halas and insisted on that) and once Ryan got the right players for his defense they were dominant. But as much as Ditka needs to STFU now, he did have a hand in building that team up back then.
A fantastic draft in 83(iirc) really, really helped.

Tomlin was robbed of Coach of the Year last season.  The only other coach active that could do what he did with that mess is Belicheat.
