It's one of those things where "shiat, we aren't good at handling the mentally ill" would have gotten less turmoil than the coverup.

And somehow I'm supposed to feel outraged when someone walks up and shoots two cops.

Sean VasDeferens: Oh for farks sake, the dumb ass overdosed.

Did he overdose or did he have several officers on him including one with a knee on his neck?  Do innocent cops say things like "Don't release the body camera footage" or "make him a suspect"?
Would he have survived if people there were trained for anything other than to be afraid and kill when they feel like it?  Is the police force still not the judicial and corrections system?

On April 10, the county medical examiner released its autopsy findings, ruling Mr. Prude's death a homicide from asphyxia, and noting the PCP in his system

Congratulations on your post, dude.  It's one thing to say someone was breaking a law when cops murdered him.  It's another to do what you just did.  Dumb and racist and bootlicking, all in one sentence.

They are part of the executive branch.
So they execute.

You could've figured out what actually happened just from the Fark headline, but you keep siding with Nazis instead.

I still do feel outraged at anyone who kills police officers. As should anyone who has a sense of decency. I have a major problem with all police, absolutely they should lose their jobs and be replaced by people with decency and compation, but they do not deserve to be ambushed and shot to death by anyone.

Especially considering it's the right wing doing most of the cop killing in order to elicit this exact sentiment. They want their race war, they can't have it.

I'd kinda admire the dedication, were it not evil crap.  That's commitment right there.  Commitment to being wrong as hell, mind you.

How about this:   all fines and civil judgments against police departments come from the pension funds instead of the city coffers?   You want clean cops, make ALL the cops pay for their farkups.

This should put to rest for the last time the "few bad apples" fallacy.

If the department doesn't know who the "bad apples" are how come they keep putting them all together on the same shift?

And often in the same car

Here's yet another example that cameras work. Sure, the cops fought long and hard to suppress the evidence, but eventually, the evidence was released. Without those cameras? This would have been just one more black life that didn't matter.

And that's the key - BLM is just saying, when a black man dies, how about we take it half as seriously as a pretty white girl getting killed. Or a 4th as seriously as a Cop getting shot. But cops will Always fight the BLM movement - because the killers are part of the thin blue line, and killing black people is practically official police procedure at this point.

It's time for reform. We need to end qualified immunity, and the prosecutors need to work for the people, not the police. We need to have Much more transparency and oversight. We shouldn't have to fight to see video, it should be released, with an eye towards improving police procedures and building community trust. If a person dies from police involvement, drug tests all around (for the cops), and full open investigation. If procedures are found bad, change them. If an officer acted in casual disregard of human life and someone died as a result - prosecute them. Meaningful Change.

And from their overstuffed coffers of seized wealth. They have the funds, believe me.

/I grew up around plenty of teachers and such who used that same philosophy with their students.
//yet, I am sure there would be plenty of folks(read:cops) who would have a problem with it

"Mr. Simmons, the deputy chief who urged the videos not be released, was demoted to a lieutenant last week. The demotion did not last long: On Monday, he was named acting police chief."

Come on, guys; one of the pivotal players in the suppression of evidence in this wrongful death investigation was demoted for a whole weekend! Surely he's learned his lesson by now.

To be honest, in almost all cases, when someone shoots someone else, we should all be outraged. It signifies a failure of civilized society somewhere along the line. We have a lot of failures.

Oh, one correction.  Simmons was not demoted.  He was part of the group of senior police leaders that either resigned or requested demotion to a non command position.  Simmons had served notice he would no longer serve as a command officer and would return to his Lt. position.

The Police Chief had given his resignation effective Sep. 30, but was fired immediately 2 days ago upon the results of an investigation requested by the Mayor.  Apparently there was no one else to tap for interim Chief. Not sure why Simmons would accept the interim job.

Hopefully, the voters there can vote in a POC for Mayor who can then hire some police leadership that looks like the community instead of the racists that are there now.
