My 2011 Chevy Aveo, Kelly Blue Book Value $1,600, needs a taillight lens to pass inspection, you can't order just lens any more you have to order the whole assembly.
Ordered one on Amazon,$60, gets here it is not the one pictured on Amazon
Sent Amazon a message they said they were just the middle man they will pass the message on to the people who actually sold the light, I haven't heard back
Try again go on to something called GM Parts Direct enter VIN to make sure they have the right light they do,pay extra for two day air, all together second one will cost me $193. Next day, after the funds are transfered out of my bank account get a message, so sorry because of Covid there will be a fifeteen day delay on your order and we will let you know when it ships.
So 250 dollars later still no taillight lens and I'm driving around in a car that passed everything but a cracked lens for safety inspection so I can get a ticket and in PA if it takes more than 14 days to return to the inspection station to address any defects you have to pay for a whole new inspection.

That's not totally fair, the article says the incident occurred in nearby lower jabip.  Fogelsville sounds fancy by comparison.  They've even got a state police station.

Too bad you don't own a Mercedes E Class of a certain vintage and expect the body shop to replace the $300 assembly with the right one the first month.  Had to move out of PA.

I found a bunch of used taillights on car-part.com for $50-100. Might want to search there. Most have pics to confirm what you are getting.

I have a Dodge-badged MB Sprinter and was pleasantly surprised at the price to replace a rear lens assembly, which was necessitated when my wife's daughter threw the door on our Kia open without any consideration for the separation between the cars or the simple fact that the car had not stopped moving.

I am up in the North East PA and have some coworkers who drive BMWs and Mercedes, I could never drive one because I would have to drive to far to get it serviced

I am envious of people who use the internet for car parts. Mostly because the people who often hero the internet often have more than one vehicle. I will be the old guy who goes to best buy, because the convenience of getting my car part is worth the 20% markup, because I want my thing fixed now, not a month later.

I got some intermittent grinding that just started. I know it's not the tensioner because I just replaced that. At 120k miles it's time to change the water pump and alternator anyway. Cheap and easy to do myself.
My son went to auto mechanic school so he does the heavier stuff. I am really not a car guy.

But it looks like there's an Aveo, the sedan, and an Aveo5, the hatchback. That could be the confusion.
I was thinking of getting the hatchback if I can find one.

As long as it's the right side one, Rock Auto has one for $88 plus shipping and you'd have it in 3-4 days. GM Parts Direct isn't part of GM, so don't complain to them.

I've found for GM parts at least, it's either Rock Auto, a pick and pull or the dealership as options.

When in doubt, buy directly from a dealer and don't pay until you can personally examine the goods. That last part is also relevant when paying women for their time so that you don't end up with a dude.
