Hollywood should just do that in general.

But, I mean, then how would everyone know Chris Hemsworth's voice when he's old enough to shill for reverse mortgages, right?

Jane Foster as lady Thor is an entirely separate character in the comics. There's no reason they can't both be in the movies. I suspect Portman's character will focus more on Asgard in movies going forward while original Thor spends more time on space adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

My ultimate theory is that Marvel wanted to address the Asgardian genocide and homelessness but didn't want to toss Hemsworth into another possibly boring Asgard-centric plot right after his Endgame appearance and character growth. So Portman gets to be his proxy and handle the bulk of the Asgard storyline while Hemsworth gets to go be Comedy Viking in Space where he really shines.

I seem to remember early in the MCU, a lot of these actors said they didn't want to keep playing these characters over and over. But then Kevin Feige got total control of it and everyone changed their tune and wanted to stay on as long as they could. Translation? Kevin got them paid.

Absolutely. Ike Perlmutter removed from decisions on the films was the difference. And he proceeded to run the TV side down the drain (Inhumans?...what a mess). Now Feige has both and we are in good hands with both once production starts up again.

The only Natalie Portman roles that she was good in were when she was 12 and 14. "The Professional" and "Heat".

As she got older, she got more-and-more wooden as an actress. She's not terrible, she's just completely replaceable.

Bit of a difference between a secondary character after a single film and The title character in several films who is pretty much iconic in the role.

It also makes sense to rotate out characters in the franchise.

While he may not have absurd amounts of money, he probably has enough from the MCU to thoroughly enjoy life with no worries.

I think Hemsworth just has more fun playing Thor, much like Ryan Reynolds would probably play Deadpool into his nineties if he got the chance becuase he loves playing the character.

Also, they did leave the door for Cap to come back if Chris Evans changes his mind, I wouldn't mind seeing him and Peggy teaming up in the sixties.

To be fair, he wanted it to be cancelled. He only took the role as a quick paycheque so he could go back to the stage once it was inevitably cancelled.

Tasha leaving was great, they dumped one of their generic boring characters and replaced her with one of the best characters in Star Trek. It would have been much to the show's detriment for her to stay.

I have only seen 6-7 of the MCU movies (I'll get around to them all eventually, maybe) but of the ones I have seen, the cast seem to be having fun on set. Like, really enjoying themselves. Well that's the vibe I get anyway.

I totally agree. And since the first Iron Man film they have been having a blast. But when these films started becoming money printing franchises, the actors wanted to be paid accordingly (residuals and all that). Because they are the faces that keep the regular audiences, not just us Marvel fans, coming back. And Feige realized that and kept them happy.
