Someone worse than Trump would be my guess.  Maybe a clone of farking Jubal Early or something.

I've heard rumors that Tucker's being groomed as the heir apparent to Trumpism, so that should be a hoot. But all Kamala will have to do is ask people if they want to go back to the bad old days of 2020, regardless of who she's running against.

Paul declared there was "no difference" between the two parties, putting pressure on his colleagues to rein in the price tag of their proposal.

No, seriously.  VD.

Wait.  That last bit may have come out wrong.

The DNC is likely already tapping him to be the nominee, and the Fark Centrist Brigade is changing their response templates to read, "Look, Mitt Romney wasn't my first choice either, but this is the most important election of our lives."

He'd be the best one in damage control and getting a good chunk of the burbs back to 50:50 or slightly R.

Let's be realistic: A small portion of Biden voters are at best temporary Democrats because Trump was too dangerous or stupid to control. And R voters are a fickle bandwagoners at heart - the minute that Trump is defeated, they'll spin him off as a RINO or that he "failed conservatism".

The other R's are simply a bunch of Trump clones that will fail, because you can never be as "good" as the original.

That list should *only* include Trumps, at least based on the slate at this year's RNC.

None of these people are crazy enough to be the next Republican candidate.

No thanks.
The Republicans have done enough damage. Another 4-8 and they'll need to change their party's name to Aum Shinrikyo officially.

Right. It's the 'Fark Centrists' that work from a template to spew garbage in as many threads as possible.

Assuming he loses in 2020, and is still alive in 2024, it'll be Trump.  His fan base is much larger than anybody else's in the Republican Party.

The problem is, the entire party has been corrupted into a fascist organization, and has been since Nixon resigned.  The moment that happened the younger members of the party, including all of our favorite names, decided that victory at any cost would be their only principle. They've passed this to succeeding generations of the GOP remarkably well, and built an organization that will not ever let principles prevent winning tactics and strategy.  Any GOP official, regardless of office, can only be relied upon to pursue victory, no matter the damage that victory causes.

The next presidential election begins immediately after this presidential election

And that mentality is one of the reasons why our political system is completely f*cking broken.  For the GOP, there is no time period to actually govern, it's all election season.  SCOTUS justice Merrick Garland knows what I'm talking about.

There's no way to stop this because the first amendment is a thing.  (Other countries prevent campaigning prior to x days prior to an election because they don't guarantee free speech and freedom of association.)

You're allowed to turn off your TV or turn the channel.  When the ratings go down, they'll stop covering this shiat.  Similarly, the news will stop giving Trump free campaign advertising for all of his rallies and "WH briefings" if we stop watching.

You mean the ones who might survive that long?

2020-09-10 1:38:32 PM
Umm, the GOP senator was wrong when he said that whoever will be the nominee in 2024 will be different than now.

If Trump loses, I'm sure he will become a fixture on the RW Media outrage machine and then run again in 2024.  He is that party.

2020-09-10 2:04:09 PM
It's going to be a real struggle for the GOP to distance themselves from him over the next 4 years. You will see politicians saying they never liked him, all sorts of anonymous quotes disparaging him (moreso than we've had over the last 4 years), etc. But whoever is ultimately chosen will need Trump's blessing, if it's not him running himself. The cult's too important to them to push him away entirely.

Libertarianism, at its core, is not a political or even an economic philosophy. It's just a fancy euphamism for immature selfishness, which is not bound to any category of philosophy. It means, "We should all work together to make sure that I personally get whatever I want, and what anyone else wants doesn't matter one bit."

Any anti-Trumper outsider (and the earlier they were on the record being against all things Trump, the better).

I would vote for such a person, mind you. But anyone else would mean the death of the Republican Party and it's replacement by Fascistpublicans
