(Fark)   My favorite stupid movie scene is when a vampire blows up Prudhoe Bay by throwing a cigar into crude oil in the middle of an arctic winter. What's yours?   (fark.com) divider line

I had the pleasure of watching Hard Ticket to Hawaii, stoned or possibly tripping, with best buddies back in the day. We howled with laughter all through it. Either the toilet snake or the deadly frisbee are my favorites from it.

I'd say the entire "Evolution" movie, except it was so stupid I bailed after about 20 minutes.  The Day After Tomorrow is probably stupider, but I only saw the trailer.

Stallone's "Cobra".  Pretty much all of it.  The grocery store, the car chase, his apartment with his gun cleaning kit in the refrigerator.  All of it.  You spend half the movie trying to understand the thing Stallone just did.  Why did he put the newspaper on the grill?  Why did he rip that guy's shirt?  Why is there some kind of foundry in the middle of an orange grove?  Why is everything on fire?

Aw, that's a guilty pleasure of mine.  It's basically Ghostbusters but with aliens!  I also like R.I.P.D. which is a terrible movie, basically Men in Black, but with ghosts.  But I appreciated what they were TRYING to do.

For a stupid scene I'd have to say when that Mad Max turns on the supercharger in the first movie. Completely stupid but I gave it a pass since it's a fun movie.

Have you ever seen Torque? There's sooooooooooooo many stupid scenes to chose from in that one movie alone. We should never have been blessed and cursed with such a very bad Fast and Furious ripoff with motorcycles. It had a decent budget, but it clearly wasn't spent on writers.

I give you, a motorcycle fight sponsored by Pepsi Co. (the maker of Mountain Dew).

There are definitely FUNNIER dumb scenes, but my favorite stupid movie scene is the train crawl and Chunnel fight in the first Mission Impossible. It's utterly ludicrous, but so well staged, shot and scored (a rare non-signature-Elfman Danny Elfman score) that I think I've watched it fifty times.

Vin Diesel with a solar powered submarine.

Oh, was that on an inland body of water, too?

Because I think I read it was an inland body of water. Although perhaps with access to the ocean. Not sure.

But how can a submarine possibly have enough solar panels to make it fully operational? And then charge those panels on the surface of the open water during daylight hours to make it operational underwater? And it just goes on like that...

"random. dispassionate. fair to rich and poor alike".  that's his crusade. his vision.  he acquired the stones/IG to make it easy to do.

by agreeing to spare stark, the snap is short 1 person with a sure outcome. it is therefore not random.

Yesterday we watched Starflight One, a 1983 TV movie that has Lee Majors and Hal Linden in it. Gold bars leaked out a hole in the fancy airplane into space, but they kinda dripped out the hole, like the air had the viscosity of jello. Actors stumbled "weightlessly" through tubes between ships while keeping their feet oriented perpendicular to their direction of travel. Hal Linden's character got to travel through space in an airtight coffin, like you would bury if you hadn't left the body in the cargo hold. And Lee Majors' character was named Cody, and he was having marital issues he resolved by kissing his lady friend on multiple occasions. It was pretty epic.

Not so much a particular scene but an idea/plot point of the movie.

In "Deep Impact" there was a sub plot of selected/randomly chosen people to be locked in a cave/bunker/whatever, and then available to repopulate the US if everyone east of the Rockies was wiped out by the incoming tidal wave/tsunami/whatever it was (been a while) ... and it seemed that at least half the women sent into this cave were either post- menopausal or at the very far end of their child bearing years.  Good thinking there guys, good thinking...

That's when I decided that, as bad as it was (& it was), Armageddon was the better/more realistic disaster movie of that summer.
